Ight second viewing I still pretty much feel the same. Really f***ing love the first half. The world building and character work was great. I love the dialogue, ima sucker for when charismatic characters sit there and tell a story, and Slim handled that great. The direction and camera work was damn near flawless and don’t get me started on the score.
The midpoint music performance scene is still one of my favorite parts, I’m actually surprised to see some people disliking that sequence now.
Still meh on the 3rd act, I still feel like it was rushed and the whole lemme keep fake drowning Sammie so Smoke has enough time to come save the day was dumb and cliche. I actually don’t like that smoke killed Remmick, feel like it would’ve been cooler if Sammie used the broken guitar to stab Remmick. The sun magically coming up in the nick of time was dumb and made the Asian girl dying pointless. They could’ve just waited 20 minutes. The whole Stack being a vampire felt a little more cheesier this go around especially wit him dancing and clapping around wit the folks outside. Besides that I loved his character. The final post credit scene felt like they was over staying they welcome, s\*\*\* had me thinking “damn this nigga singing AGAIN”.

I feel like the B horror tropes at the end are intentional.
Respectfully, that was midpack
First half was great
Second half just felt silly genuinely
Same thoughts. Some really cool parts and ideas but the mixing racism commentary with literal vampires felt clunky and uneven

that final fight thing was kinda sloppy but it didnt take away from it really. i dont watch that many movies with these type of tropes so i didnt really mind it. my biggest problem was that it felt a bit dragging by the end

Yep… that’s where I’m at.
The film is better than average for these days. But that’s about it…
Idk if anyone has made this connection yet but Sinners is kinda a classic house party movie. It fits perfectly into that genre of films.
You got your first act of getting everything prepped for the party, second act of the party going well and people hooking up, then the third act of s*** hitting the fan.
That’s a really cool observation
This good BUT there is a pretty big plot hole that I took issue with. However, up until the 3rd act, got no issues with the film at all, s*** was fire

what hole
the whole garlic scene was... for what? to kill that random dude?
and were those random humans getting murked in the final fight? I thought it was just our leads left. was pretty confused at that point.
Love all the BTS s*** they dropping

I think the title font might be my actually only gripe w the film

I think the final fight could've been more kinetic/creative, and that would've helped a lot. Still some good moments, but I think having it be more frenetic/stylized would've helped hammer home the stakes if you will. I liked remmicks speech so much that the final part isn't the worst, I like the silver in the guitar being of use as well. I agree tho, stabbing him with the broken guitar as a stake would've been kino too. I have more problems with the KKK fight at the end, THAT truly felt unnecessary. I love the part with him getting back with his wife and kid tho, I'd rather that part have been added onto remmicks death, and just extended that part of the finale without tacking on that last part. Didn't feel important to the movie at all

Thought it was a great callback to The Thing tbh and good scene to build up more tension.
what hole
Stack going from trying to kill his brother to promising Smoke he won’t kill Sammie

Sure but what could have been… like that’s a cool scene if someone is actually a vamp inside. But it was for one more Lindo joke?
Stack going from trying to kill his brother to promising Smoke he won’t kill Sammie
Lol yea that blows
Stack going from trying to kill his brother to promising Smoke he won’t kill Sammie
They killed the leader so he wasn't under direct mind control anymore

im probably reaching but i thought there were small indications towards the end that parts of Stack were still "there" or whatever.

Stretch Armstrong reach in terms of plausibility but fair enough

Again, I feel that’s a reach but I’ll let it slide as it’s a great film regardless

because we wanted to see it

idt thats a stretch in what they were trying to get across w the credits scene, once the leader was gone it seems like they were just roaming around doing their thing for a few decades instead of being up to no good
