I remembered seeing this trailer again the other day, wasn’t this the film that MBJ and Coogler won some amazing deal for? Where they own all the rights and toy rights and merch rights forever or something
That was announced before the film had been properly revealed and it really felt like they knew they were sitting on a new mega IP franchise thing. It looks great and I can’t wait but it seems quite a bit more niche and small scale than that. But maybe a mega crowd pleasing action horror type thing is being hidden by the trailers
Nvm multiple reviews saying this could be the next big franchise. They won! Monetarily and artistically
We get any critic reactions, or is this more general audience?
both are praising it

The first few tweets for every release these days throw around masterpiece and best movie of the year. Like, every time.

Yes I know. But this is the exact type of movie that needs this type of early hype .
We got an original horror film from a black director who has a clear artistic vision . These early reactions can start building real hype for this movie

I’m with that. I really hope this does well. But I don’t think it will, for a sad reason that I’ve been unable to identify so far. Something feels off.
The marketing has been… interesting… I feel like I’m being sold a different movie with each trailer and TV spot. No idea what to expect, but maybe that’s a good thing. My tickets are copped.

I was gonna say I feel like I see those exact statements word for word for basically every Hollywood blockbuster nowadays
It really feels like The Note episode of The Studio

Exactly, lol. Worst of all is, it’s starting to feel manufactured. Yucky.
But again, this movie needs to do well for all of our sakes.
Never doubt Coogler
I have no idea why I doubted bro. The promo hasn’t done it for me but Ryan is black excellence
“What begins as a deep Southern gangster period piece soon transformers into a harrowing fight for survival and spiritual freedom against a ruthless clan of vampires.”
got damn
Very happy to see this is being well received. And I hope that this film will motivate big studios to produce more black horror films in the near future
I will be there day 1 man. only other movie I’ve seen in theaters this year was Mickey 17. April will finally pick things up.
Those is rookie numbers we gotta get them up

Not true at all. I’ve seen those exact same accounts s*** on other movies

Less about it being the same accounts, but more about the content.
We get rushed with maximum positivity that I wanna say is fueled by the studios and pushed because “people trust people” and word of mouth more than studios these days.
Wasn’t Snow White just supposed to be Disney’s best live action remake according to the earliest tweets?

I wouldn’t consider “this is charming” “wow Rachel is stunning” “Disney magic” and “this might be your favorite live remake” as being anything similar to these reviews.
Those Snow White ones look like they were fishing for any compliment. Cmon now if every Disney live remake sucks how is “this might be your favorite live remake” even a valid compliment lmao?
Yeah of course there will be a few people trying to show love but when it comes attached with a 45% on RT why would you take it serious?

Yeah. I’m just saying. We only get fed (or, people only share) the positives pre RT scores. And they always end up being wrong. So I’m conditioned to not believe any early tweets anymore.

But you’re applying this logic to a director who’s never had a poorly reviewed film. Even just going off of RT, every film is above 80%.
And “they always end up being wrong” would basically mean every single film sucks then lol…

Yea we might be at the crossroads here. I’m just saying, social media sucks.
And BP2 sucked too 👀

Still got positive reviews lol. I personally enjoyed BP2 especially with the unfortunate situation.
Also with those Snow White tweets, they very well can still be true, it just might be the “best live remake” but that doesn’t indicate that it’s good lmao being all live remakes suck. It’s s***ty just not as s***ty as the other s***ty films
