I'm rather inclusive in what I expose myself to.

Right, but I recall you being extremely negative toward his music? Maybe I’m mistaken

I said it sounds like Slums. I also listen to Slums even though I'm not particularly high on them. I shared it here because this is the thread for that vein of music.

I thought you said he sounded like slums, who to you didn’t make interesting music. Felt like you disliked him by proxy

    Again maybe I misunderstood

I actually complimented Navy's new release. Some guy was just mad that I correctly identified how they've been making similar sounding s*** for 4 years.

I would have to listen to something to know if I like it or not. That's what this thread is about, right?

Still, I remember you also implied Slums didn't make interesting music, which is why I mention that. Also you having posted that Yung Morpheus track gave me the impression that you did listen to it, and that you had already made that judgement?

Not tryna get into a battle of semantics, though. In any case, that's cool you're into that new track. Never really payed attention to Ewonee's production, but this joint is cool for sure.

Finding something uninteresting doesn't really speak to its quality so much as its novelty. Conway's newest tape offers exactly zero surprises. It's a minor release in his catalog. I've still spun it a few times. It would not be the first project I direct someone too. It's fine.

That's my main critique of the style of music that I find Yung Morpheus a perfectly serviceable example of. It's rather narrow in vision, and I don't find that vision compelling enough to sustain itself indefinitely. Conway is a great example of someone who can drop a lot of samey material and then still make a project that stands apart. Maybe Yung Morpheus will do that on this tape. I'll find out.

If I were only to post Elucid/Woods tier music in here, music offering endless lyrical excavation and an evolving aesthetic, I wouldn't exactly be able to post much. I am a consumer. I like following contemporary releases. That's where I find the value of this thread personally.

It kinda does in my head, (if "interesting" refers to what grabs my attention). And regarding that new Conway, only like 1 or 2 of those songs is worthwhile honestly.

I see your point. YM's rapping in a lane that's already been explored thoroughly. That's why I don't fw his music. His production/lyrics/flows aren't "interesting" enough for me. And it's interesting: Fly Anakin and Ankhlejohn used to be like that for me, but their recent releases have both captivated me and made me a fan.

Lol true. And yes this thread has served that purpose well I think

Does Grubby Pawz have any more projects? Dude is nice

Saw someone mention the project with Nack, but dude did an EP with Skunkz last year and his own project with a bunch of features in 2019.

Man Nack gotta be one the most iconic cats in the underground renaissance. Guy writes and flows like crazy but also has ties with so many other artists. He put me on to a bunch of new dudes. Guys like RLX, THE MELLOS, Skunkz and ??? getting spun constant.

Speaking of Skunkz, guy dropped some crazy s*** today. Project out on Friday.

I’m sure that’s in the tuck.

I did man, a dope project. Much prefer DJ Mastamind’s production paired with Raheim, over Divino
