    I feel you. Well put.

Put me on, throw me some s*** from that era that you think was popping and I’ll listen

So much s*** was out then it's harder to remember so I probably forgettng the best but these are some things that spring to mind

    Royal Flush - ghetto millionaire
Mf grimm - downfall of iblys
Cannibal ox - cold Vein (only el-p s*** I messed with)
    cormega - the realness
    Oktober - project building
masta ace - long hot summer

Thing is back then the scene was real dense and a lot of NY rappers connected with dudes from out of state so we always had plenty non NY dudes passing through. I got put onto most post-90s music from live shows. Of course all the mainstream No Limit, Dipset etc everyone knew about but the underground circuit pre-internet was all word of mouth, selling cds hand to hand outside Fatbeats and at shows etc

I cosign this. Hus is hella wack, the originator of this trash "renaissance". I just looked at the list on this thread and god damn there's some trash no names listed. The ones that are nice are real nice though.

hus is not that bad but yes he has the same style has roc

Tha Connection was making more noise back in 07 than Roc. Y'all don't give my man A.G. enough props. Him and Ray West laid as many foundations. I seen this s*** in real time, this is why it's hard for y'all to comment. It's revisionist s***. Roc had the bigger influence but he ain't birthed none of this b.

a.g. is great man ditc is good but not have been the same since big l passed, also o,c, is good to

No doubt Roc ran with it, did it a million times better and had hundreds of others copy his style. Hus is pretty wack but him and Smoovth was out there while Roc was rebuilding his style.

A.G. and Ray west and some of the other DITC brothers need their props though. A lot of the artists listed on the first page would credit them. I hope one day you skip back to 99-05 type era and check out what was happening on the indie scene in NY. That's my heart right there. Not wack ass Aesp Rock or el-p type s*** though, that s*** was horrible.

what are some indie artists from that time i think i can name a few at the top of my head

Okay word. So you’re not all pessimistic and s*** when it comes to the current underground lol

Yeah YL is real cool. Good looks on that Man of God joint, never thought I’d come across that.

You mess with his man Starker? They’re a crazy duo

His early output wasn't whiny. Straight forward boom bap cuts really. That thread is about a guy named J.U.S who he is putting on.

All good brother. Yeah plenty dudes on the list I mess with. Boldy, kahuna Og, some Rome streetz. Older dudes like Evidence, willie the kid, my man Planet asia. I'm cool with these dudes. On the flipside al divino, Fahim, anklejohn I mean these are just some of the wackest rappers I ever heard. Make Silkk the shocker sound like f***ing Rakim. I'ma try stay positive and focus on the ones I'm feeling though. But you know the Caribbean blood keeps a brother partial to throwin some hate but I'm try chill lol

Listened to Ada Irin. Navy does have a more distinct literary voice than Mike or late career Earl. He's better at what they're trying to do. More personality to his material and dynamism to his flows and such. He does occasionally drift back into that "Slums" flow over a "Slums" beat though which I find tiresome. Gonna check out his new project next.

VERY curious to see what you have to say on Rahrim Supreme:

Don’t know how you could be so torn between these similar artists

You’re really not rocking w this?

Yeah rahiem supreme kind just aight, no real opinion. Nothing stands out, I find these kind of rappers bland.

This anklejohn guy is super wack, just horrible. Navy blue is alright though, his album last year was good although I only heard it once. Mainly because of the beats. But even if these beats are nice I can't listen to Anklejohn, dude is horrendous.
