Whose y'all favourite underground producer rn?
Probably Preservation and Animoss, but lately Nicholas Craven really been putting in work too
Edit: unless we still calling alchemist underground, if so he owned this year

Technically, ALC was never Underground
Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon dropped his debut beat tape:
kingcallis.bandcamp.com/track/the-seven-principles-loop-tape
Craven, Preservation, and Navy Blue for me. Wbu?
I must go with Craven. He is been on fire.
Navy Blue on that Anklejohn tape spazzed out too

Craven too nice.
Al never stopped but it seems like his carreer has caught a new momentum in the last years. The man been killing it for 20 plus years ffs

Alchemist one of the all time greats, kinda skates the mainstream/underground line imo, produces for a lot of top acts but a lot of his releases I'd class as underground, plus he self releases his own s***! All and Madlib the two "underground" goats
love the fact animoss really digs for his s***....im still having a hard time finding samples for hermit and the recluse..
I like theravada as a producer. But theravada as a rapper
Put me on, I don't think I've ever heard his name

Yeah that’s how it’s be.

He usually works with rappers like YL, Starker, Jah-Monte, and then he has a crew called 2000 that he produces s*** for as well. I like Rob Chambers from that set, kinda reminds me of YL but not as charismatic

Probably heard some of his beats on Jah s*** then. I'm not really familiar with those guys, I'll check them out. Where should I start with YL?

Start with Alone Time
then That Was Then -> Sunday Holiday
I’d also throw in Babyman (fully produced by Roper Williams, who had songs on Navy’s latest project) as well as his latest album with Starker, Lo.Caesar 2

Cant agree with you there.

Navy absolutely killed that. What a producer

Made me wanna go back doing sampled beats. I was doing ambient stuff for a couple months but I'm back to those sweet soul chops lol
