now this dot s*** "happening" and king hov bails them out, and roc nation is now handling the marketing for this project

    very interesting turn of events

What are the very next few words that you left out?

    But that can't work

    Not doing this again today.

That doesn’t add anything, but sure let’s add that in.

Pusha said the label wanted to drop them, but that can’t work.

Pusha’s manager said HE asked them “let us put the song out somewhere else” and proposed leaving.

That is two completely different stories that contradict each other

At the end of the day they left the label because they tried to censor the song. Thats the main point

There’s no big contradiction here. You’re just arguing just to argue

We’ll put the song out somewhere else, and we’ll license it back to you guys when the album comes out.” Their response was, “How about you just find somewhere else to put out Clipse? Just pay something to us and put it out somewhere

Victor proposed putting THE SONG elsewhere.

No, the issue is he misconstructed the story in a way that he knew would work for him in sympathy lmao.

He wasn’t dropped, his team actually willingly wanted to go and were the ones that got the ball rolling to leave.

But he purposely misspoke to make it seem like Drake straight up worked behind scenes to get them dropped and they didn’t want to leave

Yes… they proposed dropping music outside the label first. So logically a label is not going for that unless you just leave the label altogether.

Why would someone think they can pick and choose when they’re signed to a label? You either are signed or not lmao that’s the whole point of a recording contract.

They then made sure after that they could leave the label and did so willingly.

So again, why did he paint the story as if he was just dropped unwillingly?

If you’re being shelved and extorted it’s literally unwillingly

Yeah idk what they’re even trying to argue here. It doesn’t matter if Def Jam just dropped them or made them pay to leave

The main point of this whole thing is they wouldn’t let them release the album because of a Kendrick feature

You’re playing dumb. There’s a huge difference in optics with framing it as “they dropped me against my will” instead of “I wanted to leave and went out of my to way to do so”.

Drake didn’t pull strings to get them dropped which was the common misconception made from him twisting the situation. They left on their own accord.

@op should update the title considering Pusha’s manager has already contradicted what Pusha said.

Not only were they not dropped, but Pusha’s manager brought up the initial idea of leaving the label and releasing the music elsewhere first and then insisted on paying to leave the label.

    https://www.billboard.com/pro/pusha-t-clipse-leave-def-jam-insane-amount-money/

I went to them and I said, “Let us put the song out somewhere else since you guys have an issue with it. You guys won’t have to stand behind whatever complications come from it. We’ll put the song out somewhere else, and we’ll license it back to you guys when the album comes out.” Their response was, “How about you just find somewhere else to put out Clipse? Just pay something to us and put it out somewhere else.”

My thing was, we can’t do that — Pusha and the Clipse are one thing. At this point, he clearly doesn’t trust you guys. You guys haven’t been good stewards of his career.

So they said, “Find another deal, and let’s figure out a business.” They didn’t drop us. They were like, “Pay us this money” — which was an exorbitant amount of money, a s—t ton of money — “and we’ll let you out the deal.” That’s what happened. ”

Wow, I can’t believe Drake would do that. What a b****

  • Jun 4, 2025

Everything is consistent which is why you can’t argue it lol.

They weren’t dropped - left on their own accord.

“It’s not any different!” Is a lie when the optics of being dropped implies Drake pushed them out or pulled strings when it was all their own decision to leave.

There is no common misconception that drake is pulling the strings in the sense that he’s telling UMG to do this or that

The implication here is the lawsuit prevented The Clipse from releasing what they wanted.

    You are real deal stupid

Nobody thinks UMG is doing this for Drake lol it's that they don't want more stuff added to that lawsuit. Kendrick probably talking his s*** on that verse there's probably a line or two that could get misconstrued
