As long as the artist agrees and gets paid for it, then I'm neutral on it

My main complaint with generative AI is all the wildwest stealing of work n IP that gets washed away as if nothing is going on

Most people are against this but here's what Timbaland (creator director of Suno) had to say about AI music.

“I just love innovation. I love things that can take what I’ve been doing for 30 years of my life and make it better.”

“Suno is the tool – it’s the tool to turn your music into something that you have never heard,” he says.

Everything y’all use is like AI, from Auto-Tune on down,” he frowns. “When Auto-Tune first came out, it was a tool. That’s what Suno is – the best tool of the future. It allows you to get any idea in your imagination out of your head.”

He also waves away worries about AI replacing musicians in the future: “You still need that human element to operate this tool. It doesn’t replace anything. All it does it add to your arsenal.

The attack sometimes lets you know, like, OK, we’re onto something. We got something special. I understand it comes with some some stones thrown.”

Autotune isnt ai and timbaland is a moron and is only pushing this s*** cause he's has equity in Suno

theyre pricing out standard sources of income for artists through monopolizing concerts, merch, and music distribution, essentially forcing artists take out a loan on their music as collateral first thru record deals and now with technology. this is so clearly a way to fight against the whole buying out masters thing too. like f*** your creative control unless you sell us a way to interpolate your music so you can essentially compete with yourself and inevitably lose

so now any artist that doesnt wanna go that way has to work twice as hard for probably a tenth of the money on indie circuit. i mean the fact that theyre pricing out entertainment industry tells me a lot about the way things are going. theyre doing this to folk with universal appeal, they got joe shmoe where they want him so now its time to shake up more names. thats not to say that the industry was ever not exploitative and prone to giving out loans in exchange for creativity. but i guess s*** is just not gonna change for the better try as these artists might

I would love someone to give me a good argument for AI music even if you don’t believe in it. Genuinely. I don’t understand the concept aside from the obvious benefit of making easy money for the labels

It’s a great tool for people who already have a traditional musical background & can utilize it for more than just text2slop music generation

It’s also an infinite sample generator that eliminates licensing fees (for better or worse)

You can pretty much use it as a digital musical twin to ideate off of once you figure out a proper workflow between DAW / instrument & the AI model

    The samples aren’t as good

They actually can be but just like anything else, it comes down to taste / curation & how you flip the sample

Majority of known A.I. samples on big releases have been gimmicky dog s***

imo need to see these tools in the hands of legitimately creative people before we can really judge

it’s tough though with the stigma & legitimate criticism ppl have with the training data

artists are afraid to publicly use AI because of the backlash so majority of use will continue to go under the radar

Older generations need to chill with how much they wanting to clear samples

It’s making the younger generation turn to AI

These older acts don’t realize sampling still keeps traditional music alive

I hear u but I said what I said cus there’s a certain producer that I look up to that used AI on a critically acclaimed album this year. He has the taste and the flipping ability to make those AI samples work and it honestly just wasn’t the same not gonna expose him cus again, I look up to him but yea he’s a very creative individual
