regardless, the og post made no mention of other cultures being apparently devoid of homophobia, he was saying that the current homophobia thats prevalent in these cultures were not originally there...

    aaihs.org/did-europe-bring-homophobia-to-africa

"Recently at a public forum, someone asked me if “same-sex relations in Africa are un-African?” While answering the question, another interjected, “all these foreign White man’s practices are forced on us,” evidently alluding to the fact that same-sex relations is inherently a “western import,” foisted on Africans by European colonizers."

"Indeed, few issues are as difficult to grapple with as the fact that precolonial Africa practiced same s***relations with the practice itself being hotly contested in Africa for centuries. In nearly all African countries today, same-sex relations are considered a taboo."

"Many allege that European colonizers brought with them the “ungodly gift of homosexuality,” despite the range of available historical evidence to the contrary."

"Even some historians and Africanist scholars have either denied or ignored African same-sex patterns while others have claimed that such patterns were outright colonial importations. This piece argues to the contrary and contends that homophobia was a colonial imposition."

I don’t think you’re racist it’s just uneducated and places the onus on countries being “underdeveloped” thru a Eurocentric lense. Cuz if we started comparing America to a litany of other countries that provided better social services then the argument could be flipped into making America some “conservative Time Machine”

no? Many non-binary identities and homoerotic practices existed across the non western world before western binaries stamped them out

No no other non western cultures are homophobic?

Didn't make that claim, I do acknowledge some were very patriarchal, etc. etc., it is important to not have a purely romantic view of other peoples (as many on the left struggle with today)

But the west undeniably played a part in spreading their Christian doctrines

We also can't forget the various Arab land invasions as well in spreading Islam through force

damn. seeing the undeveloped world is like seeing through a time machine.

    bizarre

This is an undeveloped perspective. I’d recommend reading on the cultural genocide and the extreme amounts of violence/oppression that occurred over five centuries of colonialism

The reason things seem undeveloped is because former colonies had their labor focused on the transfer of resources to their masters rather than the development of their own nations

Even now, their economic systems and political autonomy is subject to the West

I dont think having empathy or indifference for gays inside your own country is western

  • Mar 24, 2023

wasn’t this legislation funded by an American evangelical organization

Yeah s***s ironic cuz being against gays or feminine men is actually a very Western idea & the west religions indoctrinated other countries into this idea LMAO

  • Mar 24, 2023

Its so funny how niggas think the way to fight western ideals is to fall even deeper into western ideals
