Only reason why I suggest this is because they're saying the crafts blipped in and out of sight and are moving at speeds that would break the sound barrier. Basically these crafts defy the laws of physics.

I'm a believer but not for these reasons. The US has jets that break the sound barrier already. I think the SR-71 did too, and that was commissioned in like the 60s. And Fravor mentioned the TicTac jamming signals and stuff, so that could possibly explain the blipping in and out.
