When I hear of abductions by such hypothetical extraterrestrial beings, I simply imagine a more advanced kidnapping. If someone were to attempt to kidnap another person who is on their phone, would they allow them to keep that phone in their hand? No. They'd swat at it, or try to destroy it -- basically make a conscious effort to reduce any possibility of documentation on their actions.

This could be evident when we look at these cases, and why those people would report electronics being damaged or altered in ways which hindered any sort of recorded evidence during their abduction. There's a reason these ships don't just pull up over a large city in the middle of the day and scoop up people.

Not only that, but the first instinct as this kind of abduction situation were unfolding would be to fight for your life first, and witnessing something that is otherworldly would not invoke an immediate response by making you attempt to capture footage via cellphone -- you would choose survival, and most likely panic before anything. Swiping around on your phone for the camera app before being incapacitated would probably not be possible
