White rock artists doing that absolutely would be a problem especially since the basis of rock is playing the guitar lmao unless you can find an example of that happening thats just not true man lol. Rock’s heyday was before DAWs and s*** to where it could be any other way. Not saying they all were the greatest most dedicated musicians but i think thats tylers point. Aside from getting high and freestyling rap doesnt even have a skill like basic guitar playing thats required for entry
Theres vaguely the concept of the Mick Jagger type frontman but there’s a backing band there. People aren’t calling Mick Jagger an amazing guitarist because he yell and shimmy and s*** lmao. Thats what happen in rap
look ur already rating guitar playing way higher than rapping. i want u to actually think about that and tell my why guitar playing is so much more impressive than freestyling!
and no, nobody is assuming NLE choppa is an amazing producer lol. i don't think this whole "people assume rappers are actually excellent composers" thing is a real issue that happens in real life.
I mean john lennon/beatles got killed (NOT literally) for saying they (beatles) were bigger than jesus and nobody took it as “oh that’s just an image thing” lolololol
we're talking abt totally different things here lol.
its human to wanna be accepted by everybody but doing so in ur 30's when you achieved sm is crazy to me
like in one breath hes "idgaf about nothing i am who i am" but u have one interview where hes talking tough tryna bully rap niggas to accept him, then u have another interview like this where hes s***ting on ppl for not being musicians
those same ppl u wanna be accepted by could care less if they are seen as musicians or not bro
i know hes saying its targetted towards those who explicitly say they dont care about the art they just stacking money but its like, jesus christ who cares if u make music youre a musician, its starting to just sound like elitism. its great that he plays piano but he really acts like hes stevie when he's obviously a talented self taught, play everything by ear dude
hes acting like trained musicians can't s*** on his playing and go to motifs just because he strictly compares himself to fl studio piano roll warriors instead of maybe other pianists.
idk it just reeks of this weird "i'm better than you but i still want to be accepted by you" its honestly crazy
a big part of his songwriting is this clnflict between ego and insecurity and probably the biggest thing he gets from kanye by far, but its like, is there any other topics u have outside of this and unrequited love?
bruh needs to chill and just work on his craft, hes cool but slandering the genre that made him the way he does just bc he can play some interesting chord voicings with ease is mad corny and i wish he got over himself and was as comfortable with being himself as he says he is
You cooked

Because im black and have been in a hotbox freestyle session before and make beats/try to mess with piano every once in a while and know that learning ANY instrument (not just the one white culture prefers mr contrarian lol) is harder than rhyming brags off the top of your head
Yall gotta f***in stop lol

People who can play an instrument while singing are not human to me
The coordination that goes into that is wild

i don't rly care if it's harder or takes longer to learn i don't think that makes it any more or less musical!
I feel him and this could also be attributed to the internet kind of killing the regional aspect of slang and lingo
I was in school in south florida and had niggas saying “deadass” like they was from new york
Its kids on the internet from up north calling people jit like they from south florida lol
As much s*** I’ve talked about Tyler’s music & persona post wolf I truly love his brain and what he stands for and he will always be one of my favorite artists of all time. He’s always got a point even if he’s full of himself
We need pretentiousness back in the game, let’s go tyler
he actually stands for something and he puts music first which is saying a lot in this current climate!
So Tyler basically learned how to play piano with just his favorite songs.
Wtf I'm doing with my free time

Lmaoo this is what I’m trying to do as well
I hear that method is not the most conducive to translating into learning how to make your own original compositions
But it just seems like the most fun way to learn
you’re delusional if you don’t see any truth in what he’s saying. as usual with tyler’s takes

Honestly, I think he pulls the same method that both Pharrell and Chad do.
He probably plays his fav songs, then try to flip it into something on the computer or by hand.
Basic Interpolations
That's my theory at least

You love his brain?
dude plays the same 3 chords on every song and thinks he’s a top tier musician
He is
