that explains the s***ty mix on the track lol
He's definitely hunched over in a chair rapping during it
Not to take away from the rest of Tribe they are the best rap group of all time, but Q Tip was the first of his kind truly, he is the blueprint for all artsy rap niggas. Crazy bc Tip not even on some artsy s*** personality wise like Ye, P, Andre, Tyler etc Tip just come off like a new york nigga
but he is the god of the gods.
I disagree I think he has a duality to him but a lack of femininity or flamboyantness doesn't make him less artistic to me. he's insanely enamored in the history of hip hop and his involvement in hip hop as a political movement is what allows his cultural upbringing to really shine through multidimensionally. naming a song "Steve Biko" and having one of the greatest hip hop brands of all time rooted in African identity doesn't happen just from aesthetic preferences, and quite frankly I'd go insofar as to say that the aesthetics of many "artsy" rappers is the very thing that suppresses their individuality from shining through in the way that it did for ATCQ, especially someone like Phife who yes is as important in this discussion as tip.
I love it but it also reminds me of Glitter quite a bit lol (not in a bad way just saying)
I agree lol. Tyler uses the same 3-4 chords in different keys with a Rhodes on a majority of his lovey dovey songs, very similar results.
has underrated solo gems too

This is one of my fav songs oat and def got these vibes on Wilshire
Tip never had an amazing solo album but he never had a bad one either. And Midnight Marauders and Low End Theory are both top 20 rap albums ever imo, Midnight Marauders ranks really high for me

Nah I’m not saying he’s not artistic, I’m just saying outside of his music when he’s just talking you wouldn’t be able to guess how artistic he is, he just comes off as a chill dude vs someone like Kanye or Andre who are just obviously out there. Makes me like Q Tip even more
@EuroNymous was right when he said this is his life of pablo
There is so much going on sonically from Drama talking to the instruments being used to breaks in the beats it’s too much for me on the first two listens.
I love Tyler so I will give it some time but for now it hasn’t really been that enjoyable tbh

Q Tip the Quincy Jones of hip hop production imo idk how to explain

I felt overwhelmed at first too tbh but once i caught onto it i loved
that drum sound (snare/hi hat?) in juggernaut sounds straight out of mamacita maybe it's not an original sound but hella reminds me of mamacita when I hear it lmao
Everyone keeps saying i thought u wanted to dance is reggae and i hear it but i get more of a bossa nova vibe which is a huge point of reference for him
it’s bossanova/lovers rock type s***, the samples are from that era of dubbing
you think blessed which is him talking about how good his life is is better than wilshire…?
Yea. I enjoy it more in the context of the album. It makes everything seem so cinematic. Also, love the instrumental.
The song is too long to be a hit probably unless he isolates one of the parts as a single
Yea. That’s what I’m thinking.

Dumb b**** 😡
i really want to know what exactly Jamie xx contributed to Rise, it doesn’t sound similar to his production
Big cap
bro that song is crazy
easily better than at least half of the album
