I've been seeing people say this and while we won't know for sure until the album has been out, a lot of the Flower Boy crowd listens to modern rap.
They listen to jazz rap which is what Flower Boy mostly consisted of. This kinda stuff in particular is gonna be "new" for them, especially if they became fans of Tyler after Flowerboy and Igor. They ain't get a track like Manifesto, Corso, or Lemonhead before. And they ain't hear Tyler rap about the kinda stuff he's rapping about on this project before in a manner/tone such as what we're getting on this album.
The difference in reactions to Lumberjack and Wusyaname when those singles were released is telling that they gonna be looking at this album mighty confused lol
Albums where tyler was rapping his ass off: B******, Flower Boy, but this one bro
that manifesto verse
Even if I didn’t like this album overall as much as Flower Boy or Igor, I respect the f*** out of him for making whatever the f*** he wanted to make regardless of his following/fanbase. It’s definitely going to alienate some of his fanbase that aren’t fans of straightforward hip hop like that.
