53:11 - the point is made about the album and the aesthetics being subversive.
53:30 to mark where Earl literally goes into specific detail on how a 16 year old Earl would react to an artist of his caliber releasing an album called "Live Laugh Love" and how he would say how "this is some bullshit and he used to be hard"
P.S. He also said in a GQ interview around Doris (so once again, Earl addressed his past crazy s*** way earlier than Tyler did) that, "I'm an adult. I can't be f***ing talking about raping people and s***. That s***'s crazy. As an adult, if you want to talk about rape, there's certain s*** that comes along with it," that he says was influenced by y'know working with VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT when he was in SAMOA.
He continued to discuss working with victims of sexual assault abroad. "Yeah, so you get to see that side of the fence, and then it's just f***ed. That's what I'm saying. That fully draws the line, where it's like you can stand on either side. Either you're a fool that is down with f***ed up s*** – I mean, I'm a fan of macabre s***, you know what I'm saying? But not like that. At the end of the day, I'm not some evil guy," Earl explains.
Earl had an entire transformative situation happen to him very EARLY on (pun intended) that Tyler did NOT have.
And let's keep it a buck, you can never call a stereotypically big lipped nigga named Thebe Kgositsile anti-black just because of a few times where they lampooned a type of rapper during a time EVERYONE was lampooning those type of rappers (as someone from the city of the type of rappers that was being lampooned, I'm just not holding that against him OR Tyler)

Take into consideration the fact that the harassments campaign of Earl's mom was somewhat Tyler's fault as well.
and i never seen the clips of earl letting his old white dj say nigga so I'll take the L on that if those exist but as long as said white man aint saying nigga on Doris, idlsidgo, or beyond whereas trashwang is literally right there...
sorry it's just not a good parallel.
It also helps that
Earl's general audience is just 10000% way more niggas than Tyler's is.

! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !! ! ! !! ! !! ! ! !! ! ! !! ! ! ! !! !! !! ! !!
See I forgot about that s***

I don’t mean to make it seem like I’m doubting Earl’s ability to make implications through his art, I just don’t view it as a direct addressing. Tyler has made a few songs alluding or directly addressing the OF antics the earliest example was F*** It he says all his fans want him to do is say slurs and talk about rape and said he hates doing that and doesn’t want to do it anymore but even that I don’t view as like a direct address idk how to explain what I mean but I feel like they never go in depth enough about it.
I don’t think Earl is antiblack, but odd future as a whole all has done and said things that I feel like were anti black rooted except for like domo & matt. I don’t think there’s any reason to question earl but I don’t think the reasoning is because of his comments on it i think it’s because of the nature of his music and actions.
I did forget about the interview where he talked about the samoa thing so I was wrong about him never talking about any element of it directly
I think they were 14 and 17 when they met? Definitely was a big influence, odd future was already set up when earl joined but he was the missing piece fr they turned everything up when they found him
I wouldn’t even be on twitter if I was him. It’s not the same place it used to be and everyone’s ready to switch up at a moments notice if they see numbers

Truly one of the all time great tweets is his cyber bullying one. Would be ironic if he couldn’t take his own advice
No reason for him to hide from social media

It’s negative energy in general nothing to do with bullying lol
people realizing he really used to hate black people like how do u hate the best character on victorious

Dude had 0 racial self esteem
Been there tbh
how i feel bout it.
I think “black twitter” just cannibalizes itself. It’s a never ending cycle. I think it’s ridiculous to keep bringing up his past behaviors when he hasn’t behaved in a similar fashion in years, and has actively acknowledged and changed his ways on various things. Allow people to grow.
All left wing spaces tend to cannibalize themselves unfortunately
Especially online
