I adore MLK and he was instrumental in improving the condition of black people in this country, but I feel like a lot of that “love everyone” and “turn the other cheek” mentality that he championed did a lot more harm than people realize. MLK himself realized this towards the end of his life, but then they took him out before he could do anything substantial with this new mindset.

my ex’s dad was a trump voter and told me to my face he thought i only married his daughter to move to america, even tho we lived in the same house. black people were most of the people that came at my ex and i cause we were interracial. but i would never feel some type of way against all black people. by far the most were dope as hell and accepting.
i absolutely understand being frustrated, but we gotta channel that frustration in a positive, productive way, otherwise the racists win, in my eyes

There are definitely non racist white people who unfortunately get lumped in with the racists, but that’s just a consequence of the racial discrimination that has taken place in America. After trump was elected, I think many black people started realizing that even the white people who smile to your face harbor racist ideologies. Once I realized this, racism like the video in OP stopped bothering me, as I’m no longer surprised. I remember Muhammad Ali said something to the effect of “if there’s a horde of snakes coming my way to attack me, why would I pick out the non-violent ones and focus on them? I’m gonna avoid ALL of the snakes.” In reference to white people in America and I think a lot of black people have adopted that same mentality now, including myself. Unfortunately this leaves non racist white people such as yourself lost in the mix.
