i mean mainstream stuff tho. white people who were into hip hop was always considered distinct enough it was considered an entire identity in and of itself. the reason eminem was so controversial was basically because he was white and mainstream. kids wanting to listen to rap because they were "represented" as terrifying to white america because most ppl were listening to like, contemporary pop, alt rock, or like, nsync. even liking eminem was considered distinct from liking rap (actually still is). same w underground rap (rhymesayers / etc) and s*** like ICP. it was considered a very specific distinct subculture. liking rap now and being white is just like yeah i would assume so by default

Not actual white people. Actual white people got into hip hop when Flower Boy came out around 2016-2017

This just isn't true at all, unless you're only talking about recent generations of mainstream white consumers.

There are multiple stereotypical suburban middle aged white women at my job who i have walked in on while they are blasting 2Pac, DMX, Bone Thugz, and 50 Cent on their phones at their desk while working.
