think what makes this show special is that there are like 3+ different storylines happening with like 6+ characters and i care about all of them

ive had it for years but just finally doubled down on it when i copped the physical finally and man
just read up a bit on his creative resurgence which began with that If I Can Dream performance and his TV special. he vowed to never sing another trash song he didnt believe in and got a gnarly producer who kept colonel tom at bay and sat elvis down where it all began with a bunch of good ol boys that knew exactly what to play. came up with half the album in the first night, the rest in a week. enough material for almost 3 albums in one short period that has to rank amongst anyones greatest zenith. wish i had voted it way higher (if at all :ohno: ) on my 60s list. can only imagine the look on the rest of his 50s peers faces when they saw the special that far into their careers (which were generally super short back then)
was the really the moment he was solidified as the king.
Still amazes me to this day how they actually managed to pull The Return off & not just execute it - but to a degree and level where the original show had never gone to before.
I literally binged the first season in 1 night, which I NEVER do. Then took a week to watch season 2. Going into the 3rd season, I felt the passage of time being so evident. I can’t even imagine somebody waiting 25 YEARS and practically seeing everybody from the original run.
Greatest & coolest cinematic achievement to date.
