That’s not true at all. His approval rating was already on the up when he announced he was infected, then plunged again when they’re response turned out to be a disaster.

Him getting infected did not raise his approval rating, and it sure as f*** won’t with Trump considering his response to the virus, and the fact that as soon as 2 days before his announced infection he was making fun of his opposition for following CDC guidelines, and he (Biden) has yet to test positive.

I mentioned earlier that the site I was looking at seems to have not done surveys weekly but bi-monthly, so the poll when he was in the 40’s didn’t reflect the general covid rally. So yeah, you’re right.

I think Trump’s team has a chance here to make his news coverage more positive (with criticizing him currently being somewhat controversial, Biden removing attack ads, etc). Trump’s demeanor since announcing has not been confrontational like normal, and instead appears somewhat humble and relatable. Since this is now the big news story, Trump now has a chance to kind of rehabilitate his image just in time for the election.

Depending on how he comes out, he could try to do a 180 and make major moves to try to halt the virus. He’ll need to be very careful with that, since him only now taking it more seriously will be seen as selfish. But depending on how exactly he does it, could be seen positively overall.

Now what’s more important for the campaign, actually holding rallies and campaigning, or dominating the news cycle with news that garners sympathy and potentially giving you a launch pad to come back weeks before the election and try to recreate your image?

All that said, Trump notoriously does the opposite of what I think would be good political moves. So most likely he survives, doubles down on covid not being serious because he survived it, still refusing to wear masks and just continuing to be an all around a******

It’s a shame that so many people are forced to act polite about this

This scumbag OPENLY used his position to undermine basic pandemic protocol. You reap what you sow. He literally put it in people’s face and they’ll still vote for him.

Am I about to like a Bucky post?

He is not going to change his tune on the virus, no matter the outcome. He already has people in his administration still downplaying the virus and mask wearing as he lays in the hospital.

There’s no way that this is a positive for Trump.

Also, by the time Trump gets out of quarantine (and that’s if everything goes smoothly and there are 0 complications), the election will only be in 2 and a half weeks.

There won’t be enough time for him to make any significant pivots that have any effect, and you can bet he’ll try to squeeze one or two rallies in before election night, only further making himself look like a total ass.

The media has been dunking on him and the GOP’s irresponsibility consistently since these announcements.

There’s also enough people (senators aides etc) currently infected that there’s a very good chance that at least one person could die, and if that were to happen that is a massive, undeniable L that’ll hang over their heads for the remainder of the election.

also what does his oxygen level being 98% "right now" even mean? that s*** fluctuates all the time even for healthy people

seems like it could mean anything, like the highest was 98% at some point for some unknown length of time

"was trying to reflect the upbeat attitude that the p— team..." lol

and he said we want to be upbeat in the media to prevent him getting worse?

the doctor fielding questions is performing for trump 100%

The perceived effects of this, negative or positive, shouldnt really be of great concern. Its not going to be conducive of significant shifts in support.

What decides this election is still the same: democrat turnout.
