The whole Starlink/government funding stuff is bunk. The BEAD funding is a pain in the ass to get and they want people to jump through hoops to get it. Thats why no one has gotten any money from it. It hasn’t even been awarded to anyone yet to even connect anyone.

Elon just wants that money himself and doesn't want it to go to Electric and Telephone Co-Ops.

Yea, its a big up front cost to run fiber in the middle of no where but its a product that will last 50+ years. ISPs like AT&T, Windstream, etc all got funding to go into these areas with the ConnectAll initiative but did the bare ass minimum or in most cases didnt build the s*** at all.

These rural areas have been connected through I.E. RDOF, ARC, Gumbo, etc. funding though.

But there in lies another issue is that you had people come in with WISP promising s*** and writing stuff off using that funding. Then those communities just get a half assed product. FCC needs to come through and punish the bad actors.
