And even with that, royalties aren't even visible in Morrissey, in particular, due to weird label and legal issues; this is why Morrissey and Johnny create so much solo music and tour, because the Smiths' royalties were are mostly pointed to Joyce. Also, what do you not understand by me saying separate the art from the artist, I don't mind if you listen to the Smiths or Kanye. I've genuinely mentioned to friends that Morrissey is a piece of s***, and I am appalled by his statements against Indian, Pakistani and Chinese people. For this reason, I legitimately don't even listen to his solo music and refrain from talking about it because of his current views in the late 90s to the current day. Yes, he writes the lyrics w/ Marr, but they are mostly apolitical and range from silly topics to more morbid ones. Why do I have to explain this every time to Kanye fans?
The reason I mentioned that he wasn't the #1 artist is because he isn't consistently creating damage like we are seeing with Kanye right now. Why do you guys talk in absolutes as if you know everything?
So are you separating the art from the artist or are you refraining from listening to Morrisey's solo art because of his controversial behavior, pick a side... How you gon advocate for something and be the voice of reason when you aren't fully committed to it yourself?
