Also making this decision during pride month is suspicious af lol we're just getting rights taken away from us slowly but surely and as always pretty much no one sees it that way because they just don't give a f*** about us lol
idk what to think about this, haven't seen a single good argument why this decision so bad tho
Average WNBA height is still 6 feet 0 inches
Even height being equal I doubt a 6 foot WNBA player is as strong or can jump as high as a 6 foot NBA player
Also height division might help Filipino basketball
6 ft is taller than 82% of men in the US
I'm not denying transwomen have any advantages (the scientific literature on it still isn't conclusive on that), but i'm just saying that people are focusing on this one relatively small unfair genetic advantage instead of the genetic advantage of being taller than 99.9% of the population, and there really is no reason for that because it's not like leagues where transwomen are not excluded are being dominated by transwomen, but the NBA is being dominated by people taller than 99.9% of the population
why is one unfair genetic advantage which actually has more impact not a problem less important than another unfair genetic advantage which is way less impactful? it usually just comes down to the fact that the people who focus on the latter have an agenda that has nothing to do with keeping sports leagues fair or whatever
idk what to think about this, haven't seen a single good argument why this decision so bad tho
It takes the freedom to do something away from an already marginalized group?
there's really not a single argument about why the unfair advantage of going through male puberty is in any way different than the unfair advantage of being taller than 99.9% of the population, if anything the advantage of being really tall is a lot bigger if we look at how many NBA players are ridiculously tall vs how many womens leagues got transwomen dominating them like MJ
at the end of the day it just comes down to not viewing transwomen as "real women"

Lol its pride month? Feels more like homophobia month ngl

Wait isn't that every month
It takes the freedom to do something away from an already marginalized group?
Those in favor of the ban are using this same argument it seems tho

Don't know what to tell u being a trans woman is arguably harder than being a cis woman because everybody hates us lol

Oh it's not gonna get better lol

I think we should exclude tall fellas from basketball leagues since short men are already marginalized in various aspects of life
Or at least create height divisions
It's the right move unfortunately
Out of everything this just the one thing I think you gotta do
And so many transphobic people use this as a talking point n argument to drum up anti trans sentiment even from people who would say they mostly support trans right that it just ends up being damaging to the trans movement in more important search of equalities
Maybe others disagree but I don't believe elite sport is a human right either

Pride month is a US phenomenon.
FINA is an international organisation.
The world doesn’t revolve around Americans.
Hope that helps.

I view trans women as women but they were still born with the male biology
I get where you’re coming from. Like lebron and CR7 and s*** are too 1% athletes but still the gap between lebron and your average nba player is still lower than the gap between your average trans female athlete and cis female athlete.
Gotta look at why trans women are more likely to overperform compared to how they did pre transition and trans men are more likely to underperform
Yes but people don't advocate for height divisions in basketball regardless is the point, even though height is just as much an unfair biological advantage
There's plenty of women at 6 foot or above and CP3 and JJ barrea could drop them off. Muggy bouges is easily better than any female player in history regardless of height. Height plays a factor but more players have overcome height than gender. It sucks because some of the girls are good but in terms of the physicality none of them can hang. Britney griner is an all time great big woman and would get dusted by high school small forwards.
If you evened out height and made the nba co Ed, it would still just be the nba with the same exact rosters.
There’s so much bs on both sides of this
Clearly if someone goes through male puberty and is 6’9 before transitioning to a woman even after hormone treatment they are still going to have an advantage because people who go through female puberty do not grow to 6’9
At the same time people on the other side play up the size of the advantage by orders of magnitude and play up how big of an issue this actually is (it’s not like every sport is suddenly dominated by trans women). On top of that the ppl making a deal about this are EXACTLY the same ones making jokes about the WNBA the idea that they care about womens sports and aren’t just out to s*** on trans people is laughable
Why should biologically born women have to compete with people who aren’t? Whether the people who aren’t are better, The same, or worse than them
The sports were never based on gender, they were based on sex. And until recently, you couldn’t change your sex.. so nobody back in the day was saying the sport is based on the s***you were born as
But it’s what they meant, and is what the vast majority of people who are competing in the competitions want it to be
You use 6’9 as a hyperbole to prove your point, but even if a person born male and goes through puberty as a male ends up being 5’11 then transitions, you could say becoming 5’11 was already an advantage they were predisposed to have vs the ppl born & gone through puberty as female
The point is, there are too many different variables to account for to make it “fair” for everyone. Sports =/= personal life and sports don’t care about your personal life. Imagine trying to postpone a competition bc everybody competing has the advantage of not having a hangover whilst you do have a hangover bc you decided to get drunk the day before a competition . Doesn’t make sense
People that are trans, they are making decisions about their personal life that sure may affect their performance in that sport but it’s a non necessary personal decision The same as getting drunk is
Don’t bring up how getting drunk is different than being trans.. we all know that. But choosing to undergo processes that change what you would have otherwise been due to your biological sex, is as personal a choice and as non necessary as drinking. Non necessary in the sense that the sport itself does not require it of you in order to compete in it

But CP3 hasn't gone thru HRT

Crazy I'm not even American wow
But CP3 hasn't gone thru HRT
Even if he had, he'd be crushing the wnba. He'd be their best player even within 5 years. Hrt does help level the field but a lot of physical advantages still remain.
I view trans women as women but they were still born with the male biology

This is false equivalence, unwise to build your argument around that
Fasho
Gender exclusive league, they won’t even ask your gender cuz it’s not important
Just pull up and come ball
lol that is already how the NBA is
The nba does not care if you are a man or a woman as long as you are good enough to play
The wnba however restricts men from participating because they know what would happen if they let men in
Even if he had, he'd be crushing the wnba. He'd be their best player even within 5 years. Hrt does help level the field but a lot of physical advantages still remain.
He probably would but he's been one of the best players in the NBA too lol
The fact remains that in most professional leagues trans women arent disproportionately dominating and i'd rather deal with reality than hypotheticals of NBA hall of famers going thru HRT to be the Wilt of the WNBA
