Toronto fam, whats the best time to travel to toronto and where are the best spots to go?
June-August is the best time. Depends what you're into. Alot of places a bit outside of the city to look at too

Was about to give you a recommendation till the end. I personally wouldn’t know any black haircut barbers for under $50 downtown.
I’m sure there are, but the ones I went to are unfortunately way higher than $50.

I know a good one if you’re willing to travel to Scarborough

Yeah I’m open to going to Scarborough tbh
Ryerson is a joke and yet blessed, i'm glad that i'm doing my graduate Big Data certificate there.
i've been procrastinating so much and i'm very behind on the coursework. i wanted to submit an academic consideration form to get a one-week extension, and Ryerson lets you submit an ACR one time without documentation
basically a get out of jail free card. don't think this would fly at UofT or York
Lmao Ryerson kinda seem like a joke ngl. How's the certificate? What are you doing with it?

it's a pretty good program, very popular iirc: continuing.ryerson.ca/public/category/courseCategoryCertificateProfile.do?method=load&certificateId=171618
difficult for true beginners like me, but the instructors have been good so far. just finished midterm szn

Then you could try a spot at Brimley and Sheppard called Kedar Hair. Ask for a barber named Patrick or Earl.

This is interesting. Do you have any prior background knowledge in data science?
This is interesting. Do you have any prior background knowledge in data science?
so i'm taking four courses right now:
CIND 110 Data Organization for Data A***ysts
CIND 119 Introduction to Big Data
CIND 123 Data A***ytics: Basic Methods
CIND 830 Python Programming for Data Science
if i were to rate my prior knowledge out of 10 for each course, it would be like this:
2
0
5 (only because this class has a lot of basic math + probability)
0
unfortunately a lot of the stuff i'm learning isn't directly applicable to what i do at work, so this program is kinda chalked for me. but the certification i'll receive at the end of it will be huge for future career prospects.
i literally cheat on everything. on Monday i did my Python midterm and i literally asked people from the NBA thread here for help and i got an A+. on the other hand, i bombed my SQL midterm (class average on it was 44%, so it was very difficult)
honestly i can't wait until i'm done this program because i'll get a $10k raise from work once i get the certificate. and then from there, i can self-learn.
i'd honestly recommend doing Coursera/Udemy if you actually want to learn the basics. and if you want to get a university certification in data science, then do a program like this. my workplace is paying for my program so it's all gravy

Man you with UofT?
I thought about doing their Data Science cert in the past, but my work shifted WAY deeper into fintech and just bought a f***ing AI firm
now I just tell them boys what to do
Lmao Ryerson kinda seem like a joke ngl. How's the certificate? What are you doing with it?
My friend did financial mathematics bachelors from Ryerson and got a Machine Learning engineer job as his starting
Now works at Toronto Star as a data scientist making $100k
Interviewed with coinbase and facebook for $300k position with 2 years of experience.
So basically, lol at thinking universities matter, unless its Waterloo
Edit: he also did coursera/udemy courses to learn more coding, then did his own projects.
Imo certs are useless unless ur current job pays for it. Doing a Masters is what you should fo or just self-learn and build a portfolio. That’s what I plan on doing

No, true. I shouldn't be so rude. I just think it's easier to coast in Ryerson than at UofT or Waterloo.
we getting cerb/crb again?
we better if we get a lockdown i want my Treudu bucks

It is, but that’s what makes it good. Go to UofT/Waterloo, and get absolutely f***ing destroyed by foreign ex students with 3rd world sized chips on their shoulders. If you’re not a beast, you’ll get drowned by the high average the foreign ex kids set (specifically at UofT/Waterloo).
If you’re raised in Canada and want to study a business/science degree in Toronto, you’re better off at Ryerson.
