Joe Exotic — started off as genuine, ended up in a position where he lost love for the tigers and began to see them as assets. E.G. killing those that could no longer offer him financial gain. Used to bully/manipulate those around him — his team was often people who were genuinely poverty-level life or education. Groomed younger men. Tried to kill another woman.
Carole Baskin — genuine hypocrite for the reasons you state; didn’t pay her workers, her sanctuary conditions were worse; definitely killed her husband. Stole Joe Exotic’s parents house. Feigned innocence but just as guilty.
Doc ‘Bhagvan’ — probably the smartest of the three, really. Very sociopathic — genuine cult leader level of control over his harem of women. Used the guise of tigers to manipulate and obtain susceptible young women. Had them living in terrible conditions.
Jeff — genuine conman. Very smarmy also, initially used to glamour and glitz of Las Vegas to obtain susceptible young women (seeing a trend, here). Definitely exerted his intelligence over Joe — goaded him into committing things and then reaped the rewards. Conned Joe out of his exhibit.
