might've got lucky cus philly always shows out but such an amazing show. he played a new song after the first one and holy s*** it was the hardest s*** ever i was actually laughing at how crazy it was i need that immediately, i think it's called Candlelight? and his drummer is INCREDIBLE too which elevated everything even more. lady cover was so great too and him coming out to really love had me emotional. go see him!

Six years to the date of his last LP, Thundercat will release his fifth studio album, Distracted, coming out April 3rd via Brainfeeder. The new album features contributions from A$AP Rocky, WILLOW, Tame Impala, Channel Tres, Lil Yachty and a previously unreleased collaboration with the dearly departed Mac Miller.

Distracted was primarily created in close collaboration with a new creative partner for Thundercat - the superproducer Greg Kurstin, known for his work with some of the biggest names in pop like Adele, Paul McCartney, Sia, Beyoncé, Beck and more - with additional production turns on the record from Flying Lotus, Kenny Beats (Kenneth Blume), and The Lemon Twigs.

Distracted vividly captures the tension between overstimulation and introspection. Thundercat is deeply skeptical of technological “progress,” especially the way it’s narrowed our collective imagination instead of expanding it. He jokes about Star Trek and childhood dreams of space travel, then pivots to the anticlimax of reality: drones without lasers, phones that only upgrade cameras, innovation reduced to spying and access. The disappointment isn’t just about gadgets; it’s about what we were promised versus what we got.

My time as a Thundercat fan peaked in the 15-18 period, IIWII wasn't bad at all even if it was my least favourite, it still had joints especially Fair Chance as a great tribute.

Ain't been tapped in to this roll out but I'll check it out on release, did peep the Greg Kurstin thing a while back and figured he was aiming for more commercial success this run. & he's also got into good shape/lost loads of weight, so he might be tryna get into his R&B falsetto voice, strong bass fingers s***symbol bag perhaps

Nice to see that FlyLo still has some minor prod on here, after they've had a damn near 15 year partnership
Still mad that I was too broke in 2017 to go to TC's solo show when he had the stupidly good setlists (I have seen him live though)

The mac & rocky tracks are out there, this is probably going to be one of my favorite albums of the year from what I’ve heard so far

tap back in cus his new stuff is amazing and not commercial. return to form for him tbh i wasn't big on IIWII either outside the singles. his recent shows were unreal too

that intro Candlelight is INSANE if it's even 1/10 the version he did live i need that!
