So that’s what I’m getting at. Big decisions that involve a lot of moving parts like this and hella budget involvement would have to be pre-planned and already approved months in advance by those who are meant to know on an NDA basis. When the controversy presented itself and the Egyptian government now became involved in a decision that was already pre-planned and confirmed, that changes a lot of things.

There have been hella music events held at the pyramids. Everyone who was involved in planning did not account for this controversy to become a thing where the government would get involved. Even just a week ago, Live Nation was still standing on the event was going to happen.

An employee (Travis Scott) is not about to strong-arm the entity that pays him or leave them in limbo. This was pre planned as well as the rollout strategy and things just fell thru

With that said, I think it’s dope that you work in digital marketing and have knowledge of this in depth. Good for you dawg

Yeah man, I think we’re kind of getting at the same thing. To your point, the Egyptian gov is the ultimate catalyst for this show not going through… but on the flip side, it’s charitable to think that Live Nation wasn’t well aware of the possibility of this happening the minute it was presented. I think they’re idiots for green lighting it at any point and even bigger idiots for trying to move forward with it as late as this week.

This part’s pure armchair but I actually think LN’s strategy was to strongarm the government by announcing and publicizing. I blame them for that, not Travis or his team. I do blame Travis and his team for how confusing the rest of the promo has been, though. Why were the billboards 7/21? If it was for KPop, why use the briefcases? I’m going off of his own words for the cover a day thing, and it’s not ruining it but it’s a clearly messy execution. That’s all I’m getting at - I lost a lot of patience for all of this s*** being looked at as a necessary presentation of the “art” when sometimes it’s jusy Occam’s razor and something that looks sloppy was due to a last minute pivot or just sloppiness.

That all said, what the f*** do I know and also I’ll be here Thursday night regardless, so

(Appreciate that though fam. I’ve always found this stuff interesting, modern music presentation never happens in a vacuum and it’s cool to watch it unfold in real time)
