Same man, been around since the same time

Sounds weird and may be pretentious which isnt my intent, but to me, Travis thinks like a product designer or an architect when it comes to his music.

In product design, Youre observing trends and history to create something new and refreshing, but never in the way of being something that can be used with ease and comfort. Your not stifled by trends and history, but your not actively working against them either, your using them to connect the masses's in the purest way you can.

Travis has created music with a similar mindset since atleast post rodeo, and to me thats when he truly found his lane, instead of being derivative of his idols.

Kanye on the other hand, thinks more like a contemporary artist/ fashion designer (obviously)

He does the mostly same as a product designer, but actively tries to go against the grain in strategic ways. Hes not afraid to alienate, but he still wants a bit of palatability. Though hed rather alienate and make work for those on his wavelength.

if kanye is like the PTA/ Kubrick of music, then travis is like the Nolan, if that makes any sense.

Its not better or worse to be either or to me, its just a different way of thinking about creativity.

Amazing post, spot on in my opinion.

Could explain why Travis has so much interest in architecture and keeps saying he wants to get a degree in that field soon

    Regardless

Crazy to see how his career has panned out, can’t deny the success and I’m always hoping for the best possible work from him

Not sure who was on the og ktt but we really started from pre owl pharaoh snapchatting & texting back & forth with Travis and his crew to current day ā˜ ļø

I don’t disagree with this overall, but I think we’re in unexplored territory with his career after Astrofest, and his features have been really concerning the past few years.

He has the chance to either do more of the same he’s known for, drop his magnum opus to shut down any and all critics, or go the safe route and cave to label / corporate demands to maintain his current stature / success he’s seen outside of music.

That said I don’t think any of these options will result in ā€œbadā€ music.

Even K-Pop isn’t a bad song, I like it. But for a Travis song and lead single to Utopia it’s very disappointing.

What is his vision to you, and why do you think it would be better he’s not on it?

    Genuinely curious.

I’ve been around since 2012 and been witness from the start, he idolizes Kanye and is better with him than without. The only reason he won’t have any production or feature credits on this album is because the label won’t let him after his controversies.

Kanye already has at least 1 production credit on the album

Worked on multiple songs and supposedly executive produced up until 2021, when Kanye said Travis wouldn’t text him back after Kanye said he was a kardashian c***donor

Exacctllyy. Its another reason why im damn near certain this will be up there with his best work. Not even close to the mid or disappointment that others are banking on due to the lead single. He's been been growing into his vision more and more as his career progresses.

    Im glad ppl agree

God’s country is produced by 30 roc and already seems like Travis changed the drums, it would be minimal production if any. And he definitely took him off that song

Exactly man, i agree that we are in uncharted territory in his career. but theres more incentive to be positive about the quality of utopia instead of calling him a label slave.

He worked on delresto confirmed as well. He will probably receive a credit on both.

Kanye brought out Travis after the Astro incident when even SZA was cutting ties and cracking jokes

Would be really unfortunate if he plays it safe like that, but that’s the price you pay when you’re playing at that level and you’re not Kanye

He will play it safe. I expect some production credits from Ye but thats it. If we're being honest, Kanye doesn't seem like he wants to do verses right now anyway and if he's on the album, it's probably a verse from 2021 or something

He should save his best material for his own album.

I mean he put out Scorpion (double album) and still had time to deliver an all-time feature on Astro.

Plus with Travis on both CLB and HL, I think there’s a great chance of Drake on this.
