He's not as "cool" as he was in DBR / Rodeo era now since he's popular

Anyway, that first 10-track run is peak music

Second-half if a bit clunkier, you almost need a break in-between

its the same s*** they been saying for about 10 years. The point is he makes good music. He doesn't need to say anything meaningful. Tons of artists say nothing meaningful in every genre of music. Cocteau twins literally sing gibberish and it's amazing music.

okay so im really on the fence with this album.
I think it’s super nice that we got that crispy sounding old travis again and he surely raps his ass off on this but i just can’t see this as something more than just good. It’s a good album, that’s it.
I don’t understand the argument of it being experimental at all, nearly everything travis has tried on here has been tried by others ages ago - so nothing too special abt it. Listening to utopia makes me wanna listen to Ye lowkey.
Neither do i understand the hate this project has gotten in some corners of the internet, i feel like that’s only the super casual astroworld fans tho or whatever.
For a 5 year wait this is pretty underwhelming overall but it’s good, i wish we would’ve heared travis scott evolve on this instead of him taking a step backwards into his and ye's older sounds. A more lyrical trav that raps his ass off like this would’ve done it for me. The lack of pen game just immediately kills every verse for me, i barely remember anything this dude says and it’s just gotten worse imo. That being said he’s still young so maybe we still get to see that.

I mostly agreed with “sonically uniform”

I think all of his albums have been super cohesive. I may be wrong, but when I hear sonically uniform, I think something like 1 sound that Travis completely hones in on. Like if Travis did an album of JUST Astrothunders and MY EYES type songs, without succumbing to his artistic urge to switch it up and be diverse the way he always is on albums

I see what you mean but I also feel like his sound is kinda uniform in itself.

Like Trav has two sides “rager Trav that has all the bangers” and “psychedelic moody Trav” and I think he weaves between them two pretty well.

Like even if you look at his biggest inspiration Ye, MBDTF and Graduation had them epic bangers like Power and Can’t Tell Me Nothing but then would switch to more moody stuff on the same project.

With that being said, a whole album of Astrothunders would probably be amazing too

If they just knew what scotty would do to jump off the stage and save him a child

Crazy thing is as much as I like Carti he could be so much more if he buckled down and focused.

People give Trav s*** for taking long to release projects but Carti will dead announce some s*** and just disappear with no drop lmao

Man I’m starting to get tired of this album. The production is great but the lyrics are so boring. Hearing Travis rap about nothing with no emotion gets old fast. I love Astroworld so idk why I feel like this about Utopia. This criticism is valid.
