Yeah I'm not saying I don't like Astro, cause I do. But Birds and Rodeo (and now Utopia) over Astro imo

Dont get me wrong I like Birds but the best songs arent nearly as good as the best songs on his other albums imo and it has like 5 songs that are straight up skips to me while his other albums have 0-2

I guess Who What and Butterfly Effect aren’t great but they’re drastically better than the skips on Birds imo

when i listen to it its a very energized and emotional trav. off top his delivery on the ends, way back, late night, sdp, goosebumps, first take, biebs, sweet, guidance, pretty much the whole album he’s in a pocket that i really like. the production is really dark and unique to him. a lot of astro is good but a lot of it is generic. stargazing, houstonfornication, butterfly effect are all great trav songs but a lot of astro feels generic to me like some of it could’ve ended up on a nav or gunna album let’s say. that’s just how i feel if i wanna listen to trav i wanna hear a trav song not just like a modern trap song on a trav album

I have nostalgia for Birds too but I remember even in real time feeling like Rodeo was much much better and then Astro dropped and I instantly liked it more

Like its a good album but idk nothing about that era is on par with his other albums from even the aesthetic the way he was dressing that era to the album cover and the production and features. Album is like a 7/10 for me tho im not tryna come off like I hate it I just feel like theres a large gap in quality

Honestly at times i do too - I’ll say this:

Astro doesn’t have a collection of moments that feels as good to me as the ends, way back second half, sdp, coordinate (personal memories w this one) and some others.

I go back and forth a lot tho

I'll say it again this album is so good

I enjoyed all those albums too

I loved when Denzel tried out the more jazzy production was such a refreshing change of pace for him, super excited for Danny next album
