Thanks for such a great answer
I'm right there with you besides the mixing part (haven't really been able to lock in on that due to the s***ty headphones I been using for my first listens smh)
What do you like about the album that has you loving it despite these significant criticisms?
everything is still done extremely well regardless of it’s lack of direction
songs on an individual level are extremely well composed, very ambitious, and every performer is on their A game
travis as a producer is really talented
Travis Scott feat Drake is wayyyyy better than Drake feat Travis Scott
Cuz Drake is a feature artist
His verse was 10/10 though
good verse maybe yea, just rather not have him on that track
uzi and travis both have the same level of substance but atleast uzi can flow good and rap at a decent level compared to travis but pink tape is literally just uzi playing catchup to rage music the past 3 years he took off from ea. cool aesthetics but all samey. samples all lazily chopped. the end was nice. a bunch of cool 2016 melodic throwbacks but overall just notihng amazing. and his lyrical ability isnt' strong enough to make up for that
trav rapping is weaker than uzi but trav does enough with the features and production on here to make it work. he atleast made something different rather than falling back on a astroworld 2.0
Unironically appreciate you actually giving your critiques instead of just saying trash
Tbh it seems like Uzi and Carti were big influences on each other when it came to rage music based on when some of the songs were recorded but I also think it was only the first third of the album like that, the rest felt like him just trying a lot of different things which may not have hit for everyone but I appreciated it all and had a lot of fun with it tbh. But it's not for everyone
Album has a great sound to it, but Travis can’t rap for s***. I understand the “vibe” aspect but f***! It’s so hard to listen to
You acting like there was a theme on Rodeo
TI narrating tracks don't mean there was weaving concept
there wasn’t but the production was very tight knit outside of flying high
the production team as a whole was maybe 10-11 people with 5-6 outsiders across all 16 tracks
Travis Scott feat Drake is wayyyyy better than Drake feat Travis Scott
Drake doesn’t have that producer mindset that a Travis has, he’ll take some mid features and put it on his album
Yo so what’s up with Trav shoulder on this album cover man Lmaoo
def ai’d
Yo so what’s up with Trav shoulder on this album cover man Lmaoo
The action figure broken
Travis solidified himself as one of the great artists in music with this
He aint a lyrical rapper, so its hard to say hes one of the great rappers. But when it comes to the aesthetics, the sonics, and overall presentation. across all genres, he gotta up there with the greats.
