The Billboard rules were different in 2018. Open pre-orders counted for physicals counted towards the first week numbers, even if they hadn’t shipped. I pre-ordered a vinyl when the album dropped and it didn’t end up shipping for a few months, but the numbers still counted towards the first week.

With Billboard’s new rules, unless the physical copy ships within the week of the album’s release, they DO NOT count towards the first week numbers. Which is exactly why the pre-orders for Utopia physicals have all said “ships within 1 week of album release” since the moment they went live. Which is why the K-Pop physicals said the exact same thing, and they all shipped earlier this week.

Utopia has already been pressed onto vinyl and CD copies, and they are going to ship out within the next week so that they count towards the first week numbers.
