I just don't see why people are so surprised that an album with "no buzz" has so many noms when the same can be said for 3 or 4 of the albums nominated for album of the year. I feel like people are choosing to aim this disbelief in one person's direction in particular, and it happens to be the female, black/filipino nominee

it's the consistency + volume that's super sus.
if i'm not mistaken, this is like the 3rd year in a row she's gotten Album of the Year nomination. that's f***ing nuts.
she has just not been producing work that has either the quality, cultural impact or commercial success to get THIS kind of a response so regularly.
plus the fact that she is genuinely a plant in many respects does not help her case at all
