There are so many great rappers. Not even rage or trap adjacent rappers like what I assume he’s taking about. But these old niggas sit around hating on everything to the point where they can’t get out of their box and discover anything new.

We’re all just getting old. Same s*** was said for the 2016 freshman class and now people long for that era.

Always found it cringy to hate on the new gen. There’s enough good rap being put out there. If you’re forcing yourself to listen to these new artists that you don’t like, then that’s on you.

Take 5mins out of your day and research artists that you actually enjoy. We live in the best era of music.

What’s your definition of new then? Are you going by age or after a particular year?

You’d be cooking if stats didnt show old music has been killing new music when it comes to streaming data (e.g. catalog music accounts for over 70% of the market)

New generation was raised by iPads. Can’t expect them to make a TPAB level album.

You mfs either like three rappers max or been forcing to like one hundred something

Nope. I've been enjoying a lot of great new rap artists this year thanks to YT music, but nobody has the superstar factor that took generational energy since X, Pop, or Juice.

Nostalgia for that general time period aside, the 2016 gen is why we're here lol

I really really hate to be this type of person that complains about new generation stuff but it's just inarguable at this point. Watching Rolling Loud Orlando let me know this s*** has nothing to do with music anymore lol

At least with 2016 - 2020 rolling loud the new artists had a mix of meme and musical talent balanced well for the future. Half of them died or fell off now.

Someone who wasn't around pre 2020-2023 and could be a "big 3" tier artist is what people generally mean in this convo

The cultural drop off between people who were raised on cable tv + the wild wild west era of the internet/the blog era/Tumblr etc. Vs the new generation getting all their cultural references from an algorithmic landscape that recycles the same 10-15 "influences"

Last time I saw xxl list for freshman class I was completely clueless lol

Granted I don’t follow rap as closely as I used to. Adulting comes with a lot of responsibilities and there’s no time checking out for music daily

There doesn’t seem anyone to take Kenny, Drake or Cole spots yet
