there’s a chance there’s more at play but I also think this is just kinda the story White wants to tell
“by the books” finance guy ( who was given everything he has from his father ) that’s actually not who his family thinks he is and is completely shady with his operations, who is now facing jail time.
i think his reaction is exaggerated on purpose (if all he’s facing is infact the fraud we know of) to really enlarge the idea of a privileged POS getting jail time and acting like his life is FOREVER ruined just because his assets are going to be taken away and now his family will likely look at him as a failure

Feel like it’s more his reputation that he’s worried about than going to jail for a few months or having seized some assets. When his wife was talking about how proud she is of him being such a ‘good’ man and always playing by the book compared to the ‘crooks’ on the boat etc. I know that legit rich people (ik it sounds corny but ‘old money’) are deadly afraid to be associated with these shady rich people that they view as having ‘no class’.
