While we wait, what was your X-Files theory you mentioned a few days back?

Ahhh good looks, I totally forgot about that amongst the chaos.
I'm currently rewatching the show after a long time, and something caught my eye.
    Heavy spoilers below:
Long story short, in the season 6 finale and the first two episodes of season 7, Mulder is in a coma in a hospital bed, and he is dreaming about conversations with a kid(who later turns out to be a young version of himself). He also dreams about getting a second chance at life, and growing old with no regrets etc etc.
The whole thing is a bit complicated to explain but you get the gist.
In the GQ interview for Dawn FM, Abel mentioned that he was rewatching the show.(Abel, meanwhile, was bingeing The X-Files. (“Everyone copied them, bro,” he told me. “Everyone.”)
Might be a stretch, but I believe that this arc of the series inspired the purgatory/afterlife concept, which is even more evident if you check some screencaps from those episodes.
I’m at work right now but I’ll post them here once I get home, can’t seem to find the ones that left this impression on me on google

    Some screenshots:
Him in the hospital(possibly inspiring the hospital noises in EAIT?)

    Old Mulder

His current self meeting the kid version(shit screenshot but I can't get a better look of both of them in the same scene)

I love it, it can get campy and samey at times but honestly in today's climate of "limited" series and shortform stuff its a great change of pace
