I’ve been thinking this and I feel like things are trending more towards this than him “regaining” that AH level popularity. I think people really underestimate how much the Idol and HUT the movie (unfairly) hurt his reputation outside of solely music

I’ll never forget watching this for the first time. Was when I realized that he is truly a mega star now. The HOB into Blinding Lights transition never fails to get me a little emotional lmao. I think MJ and Prince are objectively the best halftime shows, but man on an emotional and personal level I’d be lying if I didn’t say this was my personal overall favorite.

As the biggest MJ fan I personally never found his Super bowl performance to be interesting, it was groundbreaking for its time... Also it was the first one to create the format and spectacle we know today... But the performance is not that interesting compared to his usual liveshows he was doing at the time.
