MJ and Quincy had ~30 tracks recorded for Thriller, before they picked the 9
Scrapping is good. But one needs to be songwriting all the time.

Scrapping is good. But one needs to be songwriting all the time.
Scrapping songs (especially back then for Thriller) is because you can only fit so much on vinyl, unless you release a double LP. 9 songs at 42 minutes is a sweet spot for good playtime and sound quality.
Also to your point earlier, imo a condensed project is way more hard to pull off compared to having a lengthy project.
