I’m actually not trying to argue or start anything with you because you cool but I’m just trying to understand. Do you genuinely believe that none of the three singles are the lead single for this album?

on every platform it’s the same, just chill out 😂

maybe I’m wrong but I think he garnered a crazy following post AH and that demographic are bored as f*** and incredibly obnoxious online

yes. atp i genuinely think this is part of the "warmup". would track as to why
    A) songs are inconsistent with the rest of the album
    B) pointless and wack MVs
    C) no robe imagery anywhere

they were all to hold us over

I don’t think it was intended to be a warm up but after the 3 singles flopping the roll out will probably start all over again.

This thread is going to explode when the date is announced. The ONLY people saying hype is gone is this website and r/TheWeeknd.

Y’all need to chill out man every single morning it’s the same story in this thread.

Most people aren’t even thinking about new albums right now because of the election, please take a breather and step outside for a second

Normally I agree with you but you don’t get the point man.

The point is we are all weeknd fans in here and this is marketed as his final album.

We want a master roll out, good quality music, the story line which was promised. High selling singles & hype and I can go on.. this roll out is just confusing doesn’t make sense.

And tell me where you see hype for this album outside this website and Reddit? There is no hype for this album.

Abel is my fav artist of all time and will also be that if he delivers a s***ty album at the end of 2025 but we just gotta be honest here and stop making it better than it is

Also have to admit we wouldn’t be b****ing that much about the roll out if the singles were really good.

My brother in Christ, two of the singles are already 1000000x confirmed to be on the album

From The Weeknd Store’s Mailing List.

How will the rollout start again? The Vision Pro event literally comes out in 1-2 weeks and the album most likely drops around the same time

I’m not saying the hype for this album is through the roof million copies sold first week, but it’s definitely not as dead as this thread and r/TheWeeknd is trying to make it out to be. The average listener is aware that a Weeknd album is coming out, is excited for it, and will listen to it when it comes out.

The only people desperately awaiting a new piece of information every single day are weirdos like us

  • Nov 9, 2024

Like my roommate for example, he’s a huge fan of The Weeknd but is way more of a casual in comparison to me (meaning that he doesn’t spend his time on a music forum website).

He’s enjoyed all three singles, and is eagerly awaiting and anticipating the album’s release. Not giving it a thought outside of that.

The average person does not think this rollout is dead

I just feel like having a massive show live streamed across the world
    Dropping 3 singles
    Doing the Apple promo video

    And no release date

I’m still looking forward to this album and I’ll check it out despite only loving 1/3 singles

A new "lead" single in this sense would be like a reboot of the rollout. A new single kicking off the era

Like how The Hills was the lead of BBTM despite Often being the first single

  • Nov 9, 2024

I'm not gonna reread these past few pages that I've missed I can do a pretty decent guess on what was written

    That’s completely different.

When Often dropped, it was never marketed or promoted as the lead single for any specific album.

Dancing in the Flames was literally announced as the first single from his new album, and Timeless was announced as the second

  • hxley

It hasn’t actually been promoted as his last album anywhere, but he did mention in an interview a year ago that it probably is

Yeah, that's what I'm going off on. I personally don't buy that at all but he said it so.

Attention span stuff is bs, I hate that term, and it’s up to the artist to accommodate that if they wish, it’s not an obligation for any artist. when the work is ready to be shared, you can enjoy it, hate it, do what you want. And tbh I don’t think the weeknd in particular cares about anyone with a short attn span who’s going to listen/watch passively.

Also in this case, I’m assuming the purchase to get the film distributed took a bit longer, so it’s affected the album release.

fans are creating expectations and being disappointed because they’re doing that to themselves, and feel the need to constantly behave entitled for some reason, and try to connect dots when you don’t even know what’s going on. that’s with every fandom of course but this harsh and angsty rollout talk seems to be new with the weeknd, I don’t remember people being this annoying in the past

"Attention span stuff," unfortunately, isn't BS. Long, drawn-out rollouts haven't worked this decade for most musicians. Even Taylor Swift doesn't do long rollouts. She announces the album title, along with a cover art and pre-orders for the album and you know when the album will drop months later. The album drops and that's it. That's how she's released every other album this decade. For folklore and evermore, she announced them mere hours before they dropped.

What I'm saying is that a long-drawn rollout isn't a recipe for success. A shorter, more condensed rollout works more because you have people's attention for a period of time with the payout being an album release. Dropping the album title and cover art, along with 3 singles that sound disjointed and then going radio silent with no news about when the album will be coming, confuses fans and casual listeners.

Fans don't even know if the album is still dropping this year probably because The Weeknd himself doesn't know, which is why I said it would have been better if he held off from starting a rollout till the album was ready to drop.

With all that being said, we'll see how it all plays in favor of the album. If the album scores a major debut thanks to this rollout then all's well that ends well.
