The album is Abel’s pure soul (baby Abel), fighting while fleshly carnal desires tempt him. Adult Abel is The Weeknd trying to keep him from seeking healing and letting go of his past and what makes “him” him, or so he thinks.

The Weeknd’s original name was Kin Kane, The Weeknd is Kane/Cain and is trying to kill Abel, but instead Abel, will kill Kane. We will see this play out in album, videos and also in the movie, how it all ties together, to be seen.
