The only thing with Timeless and its premiere was the lack of lyrics from Abel and him just ad libbing and mumbling over it, I know lyrically itâll make more sense once itâs released. But based just off the live debut? It has half a leg to stand on and Pharrell isnât saving it alone. That XOOOOOOOOOO better be on it too.

-Until I Bleed Out official MV: I believe this video represents what Abel is feeling and what is going on in his mind as he dies in the In Your Eyes MV. In one scene we see things poking out of the skin on Abelâs face; possibly a representation of his soul trying to escape his body. Towards the end of the video we see him stumbling in the desert with a bright light in the distance. The last shot shows Abel lying on the ground in the desert.
Snow Child official MV: this picks up exactly where UIBO ends. We see Abel laying on the ground in the desert and then he is suddenly engulfed into a black hole in the ground. Abelâs soul relives everything that happened in his life that got him to this moment. Kind of like how people say your whole life flashes before your eyes when you die. From Trilogy to MDM and everything in between he relieves all those eras. He is then brought back to the desert. He sees the Las Vegas city skyline in the distance and walks towards it, rather than towards the bright light we see in UIBO. He takes off the iconic red jacket and as he walks we see his body glitching because this is Abelâs soul and not his physical form. He makes it back to the casino where the heartless MV takes place and sees himself lighting up a cigarette with the d*** crazed smile we see at the beginning of Heartless. Abel is back at square one and watching himself go on a d*** binge at the casino. Abelâs soul is stuck in an endless cycle and he realizes that if he stays hereâs heâll be doomed to watch himself make the same mistakes over again.
Dawn FM music videos (UPDATED!)
-Take my Breath official MV: Abel, dressed in all black like in the end of snowchild, appears in the desert again. He has decided to turn away from the city and start his soulâs journey towards the light. Even in death we see Abel return to familiar habits, because he ends up in a club. The woman with the long braids is yet another representation of the devil. She knows how to tempt Abel: with beautiful women, partying and d****. She has an asphyxiation fetish; I think this is just a metaphor for Abel taking his final breaths before the devil traps him in purgatory because in the start of the next video we get the Dawn FM radio intro welcoming him to purgatory đ¤ˇââď¸ I believe as we see Abel lying on the dance floor that is the last time we see his soul in this reality.
-Sacrifice Official MV: Abelâs soul is no longer in the physical world; he is now in purgatory. The Dawn FM station welcomes Abel as his soul enters purgatory. He wakes up on the same dance floor we see in TMB and he is taken away by figures in robes. We see shadowy figures performing rituals around Abel. Abel is chained to a mic and the woman in red seems to be stealing or trapping Abelâs soul; the devil finally collects her end of the deal. Abelâs physical form is famous and performing for the Hollywood elite, while his soul is trapped in purgatory (this might be a reach but this could explain the Sacrifice Alternate reality MV: we see Abel performing on a lit up dance floor similar to a performance Michael Jackson once did. Abelâs physical form on earth has achieved Micheal Jackson level fame). When Abel removes his hands from the metal gloves chaining him to the mic, we see that they are shriveled and burnt. The life and youth had been sucked out of him, this is why we see Abel as an old man in the next video
-Dawn FM Experience In the opening of this video we see old Abel looking towards the light and singing the albumâs opening track: he isnât able to reach it yet, he hasnât resolved the issues that trapped him in purgatory in the first place. He says âthis part I do alone. Iâll take my lead on this roadâ I think old Abel knows he canât leave purgatory and that he has a long journey ahead of him if he wants to make it to the other side. The next track that plays is TMB and the scene that accompanies it is nearly identical to the scenes in the actual TMB video; I think this is intentional and is meant to show the cyclical and repetitive nature of purgatory. Abel keeps going through the same things over and over. Now that Abelâs soul is trapped in purgatory he is forced to perform for the people in this club (this makes me think of the line in Phantom Regret where Jim says âWhere The Weeknd's so good and he plays all week longâ). Eventually we see the club goers replaced by the robed figured we see in the Sacrifice MV which further cements the idea that he is being forced to perform. At the end of his performance of Less Than Zero we see all of the club goers dead on the dance floor; I think this either means that they werenât real and just illusions created by the red devil figure or maybe they were other lost souls in purgatory who got to move on. I think the first theory makes more sense since we see the same dancers in the Gasoline MV. (Yes I could give more in depth breakdown of the Dawn FM experience and go song by song, but Iâm at work, forgive me.)
-Gasoline Official MV: The opening of the MV shows ants crawling in Abelâs ears; his soul is rotting. He crashes his car and somehow stumbles into a club. Again, very similar scene to the TMB Video and scenes from Dawn FM experience. The club is filled with representations of Abelâs past sins; mostly reckless behavior and excessive indulgence in money, d**** and sex. Abel spots a younger version of himself in the crowd and is terrified. He knows younger Abelâs destiny, he knows he is going to spend money, do d****, party, and have mindless s***until he is numb. He also knows he will sell his soul for fame. We see young Abel smiling and crying at the same time; he is trying to convince himself that this is fun and that heâs not filling the void with his excessive lifestyle. Old Abel wants to run away but he is stuck and forced to watch (this is why purgatory is torture, you just live the same events over and over with no way to change it). Younger Abel does not recognize older, wiser Abel and believes he is a monster; young Abel is too naĂŻve to see his future or how his current actions will affect him. Young Abel beats old able within an inch of his life. Abel cannot escape this cycle until he lets go of his phantom regret; he has to resolve the issues that are keeping him from reaching the light (heaven). Side note: I think the scene where people are looking up through the floor wearing 3D glasses represents fans glamorizing Abelâs pain and reckless life style. Even now that Abel is in a better place than the HOB days some fans still wish he was on d**** and depressed so that they can relish in his pain.

-Out of Time MV We see young Abel walk into an empty, desolate looking hotel. The only other person there is the girl. This leads me to believe that this whole part of the MV is a dream that Old Abel is having after being knocked unconscious in the Gasoline MV. Perhaps old Abel is dreaming of a past love or âthe one that got awayâ. Thatâs literally what the song is about. Old Abel is trying to get through to young Abel and prevent him from ruining the relationship and losing the girl. Old Abel then wakes up from his dream and becomes aware of his surroundings; he is in some sort of operating room, with Jim being the âsurgeonâ. After getting his face bashed in the gasoline MV Abel is likely to need some reconstructive surgery. We see a shot of Jim seeming to place a plastic mask on Abel. I think Iâll have a better idea of what this MV really means once the next MV comes out. Iâm not really sure what role Jim plays in this whole story. Is he the Devil? Is he Abelâs guide through purgatory. I honestly have no idea. I have a theory that may be a total reach but here it goes anyway; maybe this work old Abel is having done on his face somehow plays into the plastic surgery Abel has in the Save your Tears MV. I mean, we quite literally see Jim placing a plastic mask on old Abel.
-How Do I Make You Love Me? MV (NEW!!!) Continuing right where we left off we find old Abel waking up in a hospital bed with a mask on his face. I believe the symbolism of the mask is Abel attempting to pretend he is still the character of âThe Weekndâ even though throughout the past decade he has matured and evolved into a different person. Being that this mask was placed on him by Jim, it could just be the persona that the fans continue to project onto Abel even though he is trying to move away from the d***ged up, unfaithful, overconfident character he has been playing. I think this interpretation fits as we see the hospital staff trying to restrain Abel as he desperately tries to escape. The hospital staff can be seen as fans holding him to his old style of music and even his past sins holding him back from growing as a person. Abel manages to break free by ripping off his arm which reveals a smaller, younger arm underneath. We see a moth land on the severed arm. In Native American mythology, moths symbolize rebirth, change and transformation. As Abel sheds more limbs and pieces of himself, we see more moths appear signaling that letting go of his past, his traumas, and his failed relationships is allowing him to grow and change as a person. Abel leaps out of the hospital window, showing how desperate he is to leave his âWeekndâ persona behind. A woman in a car stares at Abel in horror as moths pour out of his mask and she runs him over with her car. This to me shows how Abel turning away from his old sound and old habits upsets some people. Fans and even people in his personal life may reject Abelâs growth and moving on from toxic habits. Eventually a large moth begins blowing everyone away on the streets and Abel catches a girl who looks like HoYeon from the OOT MV. She deflates and Abel tries to save her but she turns into an inflated and distorted version of Abel in the After Hours era. The inflated AH character even crushes the moth; it stifles Abelâs growth and transformation . Abelâs recklessness and inflated ego from the AH era causes him to hurt and shut out everyone he loved, and if he doesnât move on from that part of his life, nothing will change. Abel escapes into a sewer and continues to run away from monsters who want to hold him back. He eventually makes it back to the hotel from the OOT music video. We see HoYeon there clipping plant roots; this is often done to promote new growth in plants. Again we see strong symbolism of shedding the past, and uprooting yourself in order to allow new growth. Abel bashes his head on HoYeonâs door and she opens it to find a decaying and bloodied Abel without the mask of âThe Weekndâ to hide how his past has changed him. She screams seeing what Abel has become. In the last scene we see Abel shed the last of his old body, and therefore the last of his pain, trauma, guilt and shame. He is reborn as a child and free of his past. This may be the last of âThe Weekndâ persona as we know it. I think Abel may be trying to rebrand and move away from the dark, d*** fueled character he has been portraying for the last decade. He has grown as a person, and we as fans should grow with him!
