I don’t think he’s afraid to sing, but his brain took note of the fact that it was a traumatic experience. It basically created a pathway in his neurology to indicate that the act of singing with the power that he did is dangerous and that it needs to implement protocols to “protect” him from it. After something happens that overwhelms your nervous system to that degree, your brain creates a subconscious safety net when it gets exposed to the same or a similar enough situation.
It basically thinks anything that causes anxiety or extreme bouts of panic is just something trying to kill, harm, or affect you negatively lmao. I would not be surprised if he ended up having to go therapy over that to retrain his brain to recognize that it’s not a threat. It fundamentally changed the way he sings though, if you listen to how he sings certain tracks now versus how he sounded before he lost his voice you can hear the difference

RCLampGoing through a lot in my personal life right now but HUT has really been helping me get through it. This album always gonna be special to me and I wish more people could see it. These late nights just hit way harder while listening specifically to the second half of the album.
