Yeah, I kinda get the reasoning, cause I had a similar reaction to Abel's post Kiss Land output, and Best Friends was love at first listen. Better yet, happiness at first listen. It didn't need to grow on me. On the very first listen I niticed Abel was doing a proper, RnB track like the finest tracks of the 90's-early 00's, and he did it TOO DAMN GOOD!
Reminded me the line from the letter to fans "you will continue to get the kind of music you fell in love with".

I think he will probably enjoy "Escape from LA", "Repeat After Me", and "Until I Bleed Out", -- although the latter two are late bloomers, I needed half a dozen of listens to "come to my senses" and see their values 😄
