While it would be a really cool choice creatively, I feel like he’s way too big now to ever release music under a different moniker.
The Weeknd brand is too huge now
how come the album ain’t gold yet

I’d argue enough people know him as “Abel” to where the crossover could happen. Him breaking out into the film and TV world also helps that a lot.

Whole crowd during the Dallas concert was chanting "Abel" as loud as they could at one point
i really hope we get another highlights type album after another 10 years of his career

If he establishes himself in the TV and film world as Abel Tesfaye then I can see him dropping music under that name at some point down the line
Need him to go fully into film and take an extended hiatus from music so people can realize how insane and legendary his discography truly is
Interesting how this doesn't apply to Frank Ocean. Looking at his discography, I don't think there is a need for him to take a hiatus for his work to be appreciated.
lowkey was expecting some sick ass intermission visuals so kinda bummed w that but the show was still insane last night
A Lonely Night is actually such an insane song
Top 3 on Starboy

Well no, that’s exactly what’s been happening.
The fact that it’s been 6 years since Blonde/Endless makes people realize how truly amazing his discography is because we’re still discussing him and listening to his music even though he’s only dropped 3 projects in the last 10 years.
The Weeknd has dropped a new project every other year since 2011 so it’s harder for most people to really grasp how legendary his catalog is already because he keeps putting out new material.
If Abel were to go ghost for the next 6 years like Frank has, the overall appreciation of his work would definitely increase in the eyes of the general public

dawn FM is at 840k sales right now. they're probably just waiting for it to reach 1m+ and then they'll certify it.

Same in Atlanta
This week is gonna go by so damn slow…….
You’re in the home stretch brother
