    Some Weeknd chart updates:
    1. "You right" on track to lock for the year-end if it survives for 5 more weeks.
    2. You right has 30 weeks on the hot 100 this week tying with Starboy
    2. "One Right Now" is going to lock for the year-end in 1 more week. (There is a chance it might smash more if post releases his album soon)
    3. "La Fama" smashing in France and Mexico. Still top 10 in Spain
    4. "Moth To A Flame" is on track to repeat on the Dutch Year-End. The netherlands are where a lot of dance music is big so nice to see it doing well there.

Sadly no major updates on Dawn FM. Anyways these are some updates for people who are into charts and stuff. Side note: thinking about it none of his features from last year really flopped like people were making them to be except for the fka twigs and aaliyah collab.

ill be honest, Dawn just isn't connecting with casual audience and probably won't touch AH sales long term. Even a song like Less Than Zero was one of the least played pop songs on the album.

I think its simply him losing a portion of his rap-oriented audience, especially after the relatively publicized Gunna vs Weeknd fw, and not at all tapping being able to tap into his newer audience of older adults that connected with Blinding Lights.

A lot of people forget Save Your Tears blew up with a wild music vid that went outside the general style of AH, and then Tiktok took it from there. It was great timing cuz with that, a bunch of awards post grammys, and then the Superbowl - it gave AH a third pair of legs, and making it into the sales juggernaut we see it as today.

But this album imo is too retro for tik tok for it to blow up at all. The disco/house songs that he pushed as single (TMB and Sacrifice) just aren't enjoyed by the youth that much. Blinding Lights was carried by the radio and tik tok (for very good reason, that song was demanded to be played on radio by all ages and was made for anyone who wants to portray a contemporary 80s pop sound that still sounds modern) Sorry if thats a lot of writing, ive just been thinking about this a lot.

TLDR: As a weeknd stan, I loved this album and wanted it to be successful, but this album is like project that leans too much far into retro sounds, with a somewhat out there concept - and ended up alienating both the casual and the rap oriented part of his fanbase.

Pls. I'd love for him to instead of trying to chase AH success with 8 Blinding Lights, to go crazy and bring OPN, Kanye, Mike Dean, Gesaffelstein and make something wild and out there.

I really have no issue calling this his best work IMO. Such a beautifully crafted album from start to finish.

Listening to Kiss Land start to finish for the first time in years. This has been my favorite album of his until After Hours but holy f*** it’s resonating with me so hard rn, like I found some type of even deeper appreciation for it I don’t know if I can keep saying AH>KL anymore tbh
