What was your reaction when BBTM and Starboy dropped?

Admittedly, i kinda stopped being a fan after bbtm. That album is still trash to me. Starboy grew on me quite a bit, but i didnt really check it out until about a year later and its still just pretty good to me.

i didnt get back into the weeknd until mdm. Thats when i felt like he found his footing again. hes been nothing short of god level ever since.

Easily mdm. More concise, and he seemed more balanced and at ease in a way. starboy felt like he was trying alot of different things. Seeing where he truly fits within pop as an artist with integrity. Some stuff simply didnt work, some did, luckily he has great taste either way, so he had the discernment and awareness to know what sounds to expand upon on his next projects. mdm was the beginning of that stage to me which is why i think he opted to do an ep. He was testing the waters

his vision got validated, he met opn and the safdie bros, and went full speed. now imo he went full circle. Trilogy era artfulness with bbtm/starboy commerciality. Its beautiful to witness
