this the first album i've heard where i'd wanna just organize a night where people would come and listen to this s*** front to back and dance their ass off man

it's literally already structured like a DJ set

hope so man. as a standalone I could see not going back but sequenced in the album it's pretty great right after the creepy Jim Carrey interlude.

Yeah as a stand alone track idk how it’ll pass the test of time, but I know it’ll grow on me just cause I know it’s a sequel of Snowchild and others + the super bowl line lol. But it definitely fits perfectly in context of the album

I'm watching his livestream on twitch and legit posted that because of the vibes I got watching the Take My Breath part

the fact that its the extended version hits so much harder watching it DJ'd

the buildup to the verse/chorus is fire and people just turn up once it finally hits after the anticipation

"Picture the album being like the listener is dead. And they’re stuck in this purgatory state, which I always imagined would be like being stuck in traffic waiting to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. And while you’re stuck in traffic, they got a radio station playing in the car, with a radio host guiding you to the light and helping you transition to the other side. So it could feel celebratory, could feel bleak, however you want to make it feel, but that’s what The Dawn is for me."

it also hits me harder because i've always found bruce johnson and the beach boys voices haunting so it fits in perfectly.

The new project is packed with party records. Like real-deal, illuminated-white-tiles-on-the-floor party records. Quincy Jones meets Giorgio Moroder meets the best-night-of-your-fucking-life party records. Not anachronistic disco stuff. (Not “cosplay,” as Abel put it.) That sort of retro thing is having a moment right now in pop music, but these records are new. Sweaty. Hard. Drenched-suit, grinding-on-the-girl/boy-of-your-dreams party records.

    this described it perfectly.

After coming from After Hours, Abel should have took the best tracks from this and made an EP tbh.

Trap/Hip Hop Weeknd is his least interesting side IMO
