Would have to say IHYM is the weakest on the album to me
Easily along with best friend for me
Sacrifice the best pop hook he ever made
Prob his best dance track in general. it has that special vibe that i only heard daft punk have.
But then he infused mj in it. sheeesshhh. in a perfect world it would be as big as blinding lights. But sacrifice got a more grimey mdma edge to it
'Cause you were just like me before
Now you'd rather leavе me
Than to watch me die in your arms
LMAO yo they fried me on the last page for the out of time take
My bad y’all !
I like the song dam !
The crazy thing is though, it’s still equally as depressing. Did my playthrough while reading through the lyrics and it’s like Abel crawled back into his old mindset on these albums, they’re both filled with very bleak, gloomy, sad content. He just found a way to make the actual sound of it resonate with the general public and to me that is amazing. I know people who don’t like Trilogy or Kiss Land but love After Hours. Music is just strange to me but whatever is going on in that realm, personally for me, Abel is giving me the best treatment I’ve ever received from sonics in general. These past 3 projects have reached inside my soul and just buried themselves there. It does hurt sometimes to see people brush these albums off like they aren’t something special
I think a lot of us real musicheads needs to understand how we are in the minority in being able to listen to everything and understand what it is we are listening to. Taking in all the lyrics.
Some people will only hear an um-tempo beat, because the production is what you hear first, and then the vocals will come in and they think "this is catchy" and vibing to the song. They are not really grasping the song or album on a deeper level though. Because their mind just does not work in that capacity. They dont get the same out of the music as perhaps people that really love music do.
We have different taste and so on, but we still can enjoy the same thing or different things whether you are musichead or "casual". How we interpret and process the music we hear in general can also be quite different, even if we happen to like or dislike things.
The problem with Gasoline being so good is that there’s only one Gasoline
I want an album full of this
Exactly
'Cause you were just like me before
Now you'd rather leavе me
Than to watch me die in your arms
Line is soul crushing

Yeah I think someone posted they did and they just got their number back to them or something? It wasn't anything, apparently..

Hey!
Line is soul crushing
its actually so so depressing and relatable it hits so hard i wanna throw up
I think a big problem for a lot of the Trilogy heads is that a part of it is down to perception — The Weeknd is seen as one of, if not the, biggest star in the game right now.
Even if he’s quite clearly still lending on elements of his early music the mystique and the gatekeeping elements just aren’t in his music anymore and honestly I think that burns them.
Think of any Trilogy head you know. 95% of them are pretentious gatekeeping wankers
100%. Part of them wants Abel to themselves again for sure and probably can’t stand to see him become so “mainstream” but while they’re filled with hate towards what he’s had to do to get to where he’s at, they’re not paying full attention to this music the way they did his early work. They think because Abel is so popular he’s just making “happy pop music” which makes no sense if you just sit down and actually focus on these bodies of work, he absolutely is not. He’s gotten to a point where he’s found out how to write letters from his heart and turn them into full blown ballads, anthems, MOMENTS. I started resonating with Abel with Trilogy and Kiss Land and I can comfortably say he’s surpassed that and then some for me, I don’t look for him to go back to that sound anymore because I realize the way he has evolved that sound in general, is better.
Really just wondering why he got Tyler to rap on this there’s like no point of him
And I actually like Tyler
HDIMYLM might be my favorite rn
