Abel talks a lot about The Weeknd being a character he portrays and we know everything he does is inspired by a deep love of cinema and world building, but I really wonder how much of his work is autobiographical vs. just writing for the character of The Weeknd

I hope it’s moreso the latter because if not then based off of everything since MDM this guy might really be in a dark place

it’s so rewarding as a big fan to tune into all the memento mori episodes and hear what’s inspiring him, and then to directly see those influences in the music on the album release. makes you appreciate the process even more because you can point directly to the references on your first listen

like @Undisclosed mentioned earlier (forgot who came up with it) this really is memento mori the album in that sense
