Abel bout to speak political in terms of the music industry on the next album?
Back in 2016, the topic of Kendrick Lamar and his TPAB album came up during his interview with Zane Lowe. This is what he had to say. Interesting hearing this now considering what all that has happened. streamable.com/zb9mlp
Need him to go back to the date rape lyrics
Where were the date rape lyrics before?
Abel bout to speak political in terms of the music industry on the next album?
Angry Abel like Mike
Lmao, yeah. This clip is basically what we were discussing; whilst he doesn’t directly bear resemblance to Prince from a solely musical perspective, it seems clear that Abel sees him as an inspiration solely for his attitude/approach to music.
That’s actually hilarious at how direct that Instagram post feels to our conversation
He almost peed his pants giggling when Prince gave him that award at the amas.
Cant blame him

I really see this happening.
I really see this happening.
But he won't though, unfortunately. Maybe on a song or two. Mark my words. I can already tell you the format of the next album with my eyes closed.
Max Martin will definitely have a batch of tracks per usual (which will be pushed as singles). I also think Metro will have a couple on there too, since his label 'Boominati' was launched in partnership with Republic and Universal Music around 2017 (hence why his production was all over After Hours).
In-house producer Daheala will undoubtedly at least be involved in a cut or two as always. My guess he'll either recruit both Illangelo and Doc or solely the latter if he's looking to cook up some politically-charged/Prince-esque tracks. No one does those better than Doc Mckinney.
As for the songwriting process, his long term collaborator and friend Ahmed "Belly" Balshe will certainly co-pen a few. The usual word-smiths on Republic may also be involved. Last but not least is the guest-star producer, Abel has had at least one or two on every record. On BBTM it was Kanye and Stephan Moccio. Daft Punk & Diplo on Starboy and Kevin Parker & Oneohtrix Point Never on After Hours. It'll be interesting to see who he partners with on the next album.
The roll-out, aesthetic and visuals will obviously all be inspired by films or perhaps a film of his own like Purple Rain. No surprise there. I also think he'll continue to release 'conceptual' albums, unlike Starboy which was a one-off thing. Also i'm sure there'll be features on the next album, at least then he wont have to resort to lame remixes, i.e In Your Eyes to support the singles. And that's it. Bookmark this post when it happens lol
Hope this helps.
