MDM I don’t see how you could describe as pop, and AH I guess it’s kinda poppy but it’s not poppy like starboy was

Pop is just such an inferior genre of music to me it stands for horrible radio bait and The Weeknd is actually making fresh inspired music

Shedding that unfair view of pop will definitely expose you to a lot of phenomenal music

    Impossible

Its said some of trilogy was influenced by burial and u can hear it on some songs

Most definitely, songs like The Zone, The Fall, Coming Down & What You Need & Montreal all have heavy dark UK Garage vibes

i feel like even if it's not the worst sounding or least interesting song, it's definitely the least important in the context of the album? like other than the "cali was the mission, now a nigga leaving" hook that could've easily been added to Escape, then was is it really for? lol

that's how i see it at least

Said it before and I’ll say it again, he needs to develop a serious heroin habit before recording any more music. This would be the best possible career move for him.

He would produce a deranged, dark, d***ged out experimental album that would be praised. He’d give grizzly accounts of life and the situations he gets into while being a fiend, and hustling pills on the side to fuel his addiction as people begin to distance themselves from him. Soon it would come out about his addiction and the media would be buzzing. Scandal after scandal would arise and he’d be the most talked about person in the world as he continues down this dark path of addiction and insanity. Then, he would get arrested for possession and do a stint in jail, adding credibility to the hard image he’s been trying to adopt for sometime. The #FreeWeeknd movement would be like nothing we’ve ever seen before and it would spark an international conversation about how we treat addicts (rehabilitative vs punitive punishment.

I don’t see it in What You Need that’s a PURE R&B track

Personally, it's the Aaliyah vocal sample & the way it's drowned out & looped reminds me of Burial.

But I agree it leans more towards R&B than UK Garage
