When After Hours came out I downloaded every song individually from Youtube and then converted them all to MP3 so I could have them on my phone. Looking forward to a smoother first listen this time but I can't think of an activity to do while listening

dawn FM 100% inspired by Magic OPN

both are based on imaginary radio stations. OPN album title itself alludes to a Boston radio station, Magic 106.7

What song outside of the title track involves “familiarity” with the Trilogy that Illangelo produced on After Hours?

I mean we’ll see what OPN does on here, but I wouldn’t discredit Illangelo like that.

I didn't mean familiarity in sound, more so just their working relationship. Illangelo's talent can't be questioned, but Abel can better explore new places in his music at this stage in his career with OPN cause they are still in the early/prime phases of their creative partnership. Not saying Illangelo can't be innovative, of course he can, but in order for Abel to keep growing I think it's smart for him to be doing it this way.

i wonder how much of an influence the lyrical content in Until I Bleed Out will have on this album.

    u don’t use streaming platforms ?

I do now but back then I used to torrent everything. Streaming's obviously the better move but I used to be obsessed with having the MP3 on my phone.

Facts. After Hours changed completely for the better once Illangelo made the choice to dedicate the time to perfect the album with Abel. People forget he wasn't involved in those recordings from the start.

holy s*** i NEVER knew this. THIS is the type of effort and dedication you love to see in your artists

There are 67 versions of “The Hills,” arguably one of my biggest songs — sixty-seven! Why? I premiered a demo at a South by Southwest party in 2015 as part of the rollout of “Beauty Behind the Madness.” I played it over the speakers, I was like “Let’s play it, just for fun, to get fans excited.” That version was called “Mood Music” — longtime friend and creative director La Mar Taylor recorded it on his phone, it was a snippet, just half the song. It was posted on Soundcloud and it got the most views SoundCloud had ever seen or something — a sh—y phone recording. So then the whole world has that version — but the version I’m still working on in the studio doesn’t sound like that version, even though it’s the same song. I lost my mind making that record because there are noises in the SoundCloud version that I tried to replicate in the studio — somebody in the crowd screaming right before the drop, that wasn’t there before, so I had to put a fake scream in the song! That’s what I deal with when I make music. And that’s just on a public level — now just imagine a song that I’m living with by myself!

Didn't he say after hours brought him back from semi retirement too lol. These guys really had confidence that album was gonna be the one, look how right they were.
